This is me speaking from my own personal experiences and observations so I’m not saying that it’s universal. But at least when it’s directed towards me I’ve had African Americans call me all sorts of s*** related to me being from Africa/being Arab and no one thought it was wrong.
I’ve also seen online AAs making all sorts of racist jokes and comments towards other black and brown people and it’s simply taken as a joke. Why di y’all think this is and how do you think we can improve to hold people accountable?
Note: I have 0 issue with African Americans and I am simply trying to have a conversation, also if you come itt tryna be racist towards AAs because you’ve had similar experiences f*** your self I’m not in your side.
I think the reasoning is that black people especially those in america have never enslaved another human so when they say racist things and its presented as a joke it is seen as one since there is no true history for it to be anything other than that as opposed to a white man who has a rich lineage of it

I definitely see what you’re saying but I’m not white and I’m not talking about "racism" towards whites

I'm not either lol I'm saying that when a group has no history of true racism even when they do say something racist albeit a joke or not it doesn't have that same sting or feel.
cuz of historical and current power dynamics
I’m Arab tho historically we don’t really play into the race dynamics of America so how would that justify it

Sorry idk what to say about it in your particular context

My conclusion that I’ve reached is that it’s simply them being idiot Americans, which doesn’t justify it in my eyes but it’s still a good explanation, still need to be called out and people should be held accountable

Yes totally. You can't excuse ignorance and you gotta do better, you cannot just excuse something because you said it with no malicious intent
Could you explain this more it’s hard for me to read English sometimes
lol nevermind i'm gonna delete that because of all the contextual knowledge around it

Basically bro was heated because an outspoken group of people were mad at Rico Nasty for saying chink when she was young. Personally idc but also I believe kids have some agency, it wasn't worth the energy of 'cancelling' over though.
His argument was that black ppl can't be racist and chink isn't offensive enough to warrant outrage because asians across the board hate black people and start businesses preying on their communities
I posted that screencap cuz it was funny seeing him say he's had enough of these chopsticks. Great example of hate breeds hate and if you choose to ignore ignorance, nothing progresses. I don't blame him for being heated at people he's experienced racism from, but also don't generalise multiple whole populations

Black people cant be racist towards whites I don’t understand how people thought that meant every other group under the sun lmao.
America, is a very insulated society. Like if it’s not happening in America, your average American thinks it just don’t exist/not possible. I’ve been approached by “regular black Americans” on 2 occasions this past summer when I was leaving the club with my home girl. Nigga was tryna talk to her, and I moved out the way to let him shoot his shot. My home girl is Ghanaian, and she still has an accent. So he peeped, and started doing the typical “oh you foreign/exotic” type of talk, thinking he was winning her over
He see that s*** ain’t giving him no motion, n my home girl tells me that we should go, call an Uber. Bro randomly and unprovoked goes “y’all African, y’all don’t f*** with us no way”. ”I know y’all be calling us akata, yea I know what that means. Y’all be calling us n*ggers.” I tell him to relax, n that he tweakin s*** ain’t that deep. He then goes off talking bout we (Africans) sold them (black Americans) into slavery. So while we’re waiting for our Uber he keeps going on and on about it n one of his friends comes and starts chiming in too. I was just laughing while waiting for the Uber, my home girl was tryna debate them bout it.
It seems to be a growing sentiment amongst black Americans unfortunately.

I don’t have that much of a accent anymore it’s pretty subtle but I remember when I first came here and people would make fun of how I spoke, limited English etc but when I would call them out or press them they would act like victims
