I'm starting to believe that Kendrick stans are really mentally ill.
The mental gymnastic they're doing to defend him
what did he say that was a stretch?
idk why people bother coming into threads like this just to deflect back to the beef.
and the whole "putting kodak on the album was the point" narrative is so obtuse. who cares what the point is when the execution is bankrupt? kodak has 0 genuine remorse and isn't even made to grapple with the sexual harm he's perpetrated on that album. if anything, featuring someone who has been victimized would've been a more insightful approach.
whether it's working with kodak and dre or disingenuously cosigning xxxtentacion and rkelly's music, kendrick just employs his moral compass when it's convenient. he doesn't really care when it comes to platforming abusers.
he didnt "cosign" r kelly's music unless im missing something
The same reason why a lot of artists don't. I'm sure they fall in to the "It's not my business" or "I don't really know what these guys are like when not around me" line of thinking.
Still weird regardless.

Because that’s exactly why this thread was made lmfao this wouldn’t have been a topic if not for the Drake beef. Why wasn’t this a discussion prior to 2024?
Yak feature lol
i like the song lol just being sarcastic cus both of them niggas have allegations
he didnt "cosign" r kelly's music unless im missing something
"You the reason R. Kelly can't recognize that he's abusive"
Man, shut the f*** up, we all know you still playin' his music
this is such a bs angle cus the ppl critiquing rkelly are not the same audience sneak listening to him. and retorting that sentiment on your "trauma" album after keeping quiet on top dawg's debacle with spotify is so oblivious.

that's not a good excuse. for the multiple initial threads made that was valid, however the title explicitly says no stan wars and it wouldn't hurt to approach this with genuine discourse instead of making the same corny ass jokes.
the beef is a culmination of critiques levied against both artists and if it's a hot topic now with everything that's happened then why not actually have the discussion?

idk how you can listen to that song where kendrick is playing a part alongside an actual actress and think “ah yes this is his genuine take on this issue” it’s illustrating the standpoint of the character who has obvious issues w women and other s***

Cause Kendrick was wrong, they are slow

It doesn’t have to be lmfao we can read between the lines and think critically. This is not a good faith thread considering the other threads @op made about Kendrick

playing a character would be a good vantage point for him to get off his actual opinion without getting too much flack. not to mention on an issue people have already given you hell about outside of your art.

fair enough
Why is she following Dave Free and not Mr. Morale? (No stan wars)
The way you doin' splits, b****, your pants might rip (No Stan Wars)

You have to use this same perspective with literally any director/screenwriter that participates in creating art with heavy themes then
I'm starting to believe that Kendrick stans are really mentally ill.

Basic engagement with the art you consume leading to a nuanced interpretation, instead of just looking at the surface, does not constitute “mental illness” or even mental gymnastics.
This was a very tasteless post
yo why is jadakiss as hard as it gets? why is the industry designed to keep the artist in debt? and why them dudes aint ridin if they part of your set? and why they never get it poppin but they party to death?
Uhahhhhhhhnnnnnn
As a Kendrick fan I think there is no excuse, it's open hypocrisy plain and simple.
He's ultimately just a nigga with a good pen and like any other nigga(me included), he has his moral blindspots and hypocritical views and his celebrity, platform, and triple entendres doesn't change that. I hate when people contort themselves to try and maintain some sanitized view of their favorite artists.
he didnt "cosign" r kelly's music unless im missing something
He didn't lol while I hate that R Kelly happened to be a vehicle for the discussion/stance, TDE didn't threaten to pull their music because R Kelly was getting his music pulled. It was because of the precedent that could be set with DSPs removing artists' music for things they have done or said. While also turning a blind eye at other artists who have also done wild s***.
You wanna pull R Kelly's music because he's a pedophile and weirdo? Cool, start doing that for all them other rock and pop stars from the 70s, 80s, and 90s who were on the same kinda time then if you're truly about taking a moral high ground.
While I'm all for shunning pedophiles in music and letting them become obscure, if not, outright lost to the annals of music history. I don't really think that Spotify should have the free range to do so, because they will be wildly inconsistent with it, and we already know who will actually be punished for it more than others.
all that said though kodak does have a weird case and i think kendrick could’ve illustrated the exact same point w someone like 21 or NBA Youngboy or something. rich interlude is an amazing song but that’s as deep as it goes when it comes to kodak actually contributing to the narrative and themes of the album. the project is so openly about abuse that black people suffer at the hands of racism, misogyny and warped ideas of masculinity and to have kodak be one of the narrators for ur album and only have him as a touchpoint for the “i made it out the hood” narrative instead of those issues that he’s allegedly been a perpetrator of or party to still feels weird to me. idk
ik op said no stan wars but the fact that drake didn’t address this at all was one of the biggest fumbles in the beef

I’m the biggest hypocrite of 2015-2024
yo why is jadakiss as hard as it gets? why is the industry designed to keep the artist in debt? and why them dudes aint ridin if they part of your set? and why they never get it poppin but they party to death?
Why they come up with witness protection?
Why they let the terminator win the election?
COME ON PAY ATTENTION!!

Ding ding ding, that onus should best fall on the consumer, not the platform, unless the platform is private then in that case they can do whatever they want

it’d be a good vantage point for a loser maybe but kendrick has always said what he thinks, never felt the need to hide behind a character or a narrative. bro opens the song talking about how he’s sick of b****es i really doubt any of that track is how he’s really feeling
