idk why people bother coming into threads like this just to deflect back to the beef.

and the whole "putting kodak on the album was the point" narrative is so obtuse. who cares what the point is when the execution is bankrupt? kodak has 0 genuine remorse and isn't even made to grapple with the sexual harm he's perpetrated on that album. if anything, featuring someone who has been victimized would've been a more insightful approach.

whether it's working with kodak and dre or disingenuously cosigning xxxtentacion and rkelly's music, kendrick just employs his moral compass when it's convenient. he doesn't really care when it comes to platforming abusers.

that's not a good excuse. for the multiple initial threads made that was valid, however the title explicitly says no stan wars and it wouldn't hurt to approach this with genuine discourse instead of making the same corny ass jokes.

the beef is a culmination of critiques levied against both artists and if it's a hot topic now with everything that's happened then why not actually have the discussion?

playing a character would be a good vantage point for him to get off his actual opinion without getting too much flack. not to mention on an issue people have already given you hell about outside of your art.

As a Kendrick fan I think there is no excuse, it's open hypocrisy plain and simple.

He's ultimately just a nigga with a good pen and like any other nigga(me included), he has his moral blindspots and hypocritical views and his celebrity, platform, and triple entendres doesn't change that. I hate when people contort themselves to try and maintain some sanitized view of their favorite artists.

He didn't lol while I hate that R Kelly happened to be a vehicle for the discussion/stance, TDE didn't threaten to pull their music because R Kelly was getting his music pulled. It was because of the precedent that could be set with DSPs removing artists' music for things they have done or said. While also turning a blind eye at other artists who have also done wild s***.

You wanna pull R Kelly's music because he's a pedophile and weirdo? Cool, start doing that for all them other rock and pop stars from the 70s, 80s, and 90s who were on the same kinda time then if you're truly about taking a moral high ground.

While I'm all for shunning pedophiles in music and letting them become obscure, if not, outright lost to the annals of music history. I don't really think that Spotify should have the free range to do so, because they will be wildly inconsistent with it, and we already know who will actually be punished for it more than others.
