jay z been riding really weird pockets and when it works it sounds crazy but sometimes it doesn't go perfectly like that commission line

nah. some songs recently a bar of his will have too many syllables or not enough. like the commission line on the push song. if an amateur rapper did that it would be called sloppy.

Amateurs rappers in 2022 are saying a whole lot of nothing so of course they're never going to have to cleverly fill out syllables for flows lol

I love 4:44, but you gotta admit he wasn’t really riding the beats

Did you listen to Marcy Me?

    I know wym

Feel like he loosened up the flow a lil bit but it works. Like people itt said, it’s like he’s talking

At times it may sound like he’s stumbling over his words or trying to fit too many words in a bar. He can still get in pocket though

You can hear a difference when you listen to Shiny Suit Theory imo. He sounds a lil bit more in pocket and fits a lot of words/rhymes in a bar without going “off beat”. Not saying he sounds better but it doesn’t sound as scattered as some of the other flows on AWT or other verses he did throughout the years

He still on time tho, y’all just think it’s only one way you can rap on a beat

He was but there’s songs where he’s flowing too

    Nas never losing it

Just one of many reasons he's the GOAT

I was gonna say....Nas still slaying beats the traditional way and he's almost 50.

But Hov's new flow is cool to me though. He's really pushing the spoken word and quotables angle. I f***ed with his verse from "What's Free?" which had that approach.

  • Apr 6, 2022

Some of y'all really going over the top with this it sounds like HOV should be in a retirement home

I agree, I hated 4:44 for this very reason. He was off beat during his live show during that era as well.

dude spilled his enitre soul on 4:44 and mf crying cause he wasn't on beat like the 2000s
the funniest part of the s*** is that he was literally on beat that whole album son lmaooo

  • Stantm4444

    “He’s a genius”

    “It’s spoken word.”

These are all excuses for getting old and not being able to keep up with the beat anymore

    Hot take
