Don’t confuse this as me saying either are bad because they aren’t (in my personal opinion.) I enjoy listening to Keef and Reese. But it’s always been weird to me that both of them fell off from the mainstream the way they did while Durk and Herbo only continue to get bigger. I guess this question is even more so aimed at Sosa since he’s the main one who made the Chicago scene pop the way it did and was at the top for awhile. What made Sosa and Reese fall from mainstream grace but allowed Durk and Herbo to climb? Do you think Keef or Reese could have a second coming if they really tried to? Again this isn’t saying they dont make good music still, I’m talking about being big on a mainstream level like when they first surfaced.

Both takes very true I agree. It is crazy how dedicated of a base Keef has despite being lowkey as he is now. Reese not making the same kind of music as the others on their level j agree too.

I feel keef already had his star power and run and obviously he’s made his impact. I don’t think he’s trying nor does he need to at this point. Lil Reese isn’t that good or consistent musically and he just cannot maneuver correctly in the media to even gain that power and it’s not good at promotion. G Herbo has been consistently dropping tapes and keeping his name in the mix with singles/features and some moments here on social media. Lil durk obviously got the boost from the drake feature and ever since then he’s had this renaissance and took every advantage to keep putting out great verses and songs

As for Keef, he is one of the most low-key rappers of his generation

He’s always made an effort not to make “regular” music and always get experimental with it

Durk’s music is ofc great, but it’s pretty generic a lot of the times. Another reason he’s so big is because of how he always went out his way to make friends with up coming artists and give them features. Once they blew up, they returned the favour

Lets be real. Keep & Reese are leagues harder and edgier than durk and herbo. Hard doesn’t resonate well with casuals. They like midrange, palatable street rap
