honestly bro niggas be one dimensional. especially in the mainstream.
tyler or kaytra or even wondagurl make some of the best beats and are unique but you can easily find a pocket to rap over them if you’re really versatile. but they’re underutilized and under appreciated by rappers because it doesn’t sound like everything else
with that said though i do think the fans appreciate all these producers, it’s just the artists be scared to do something different

May 31, 2023·editedI won’t say his beats are bad but they only work for him. a lot of his sound selection are stock sounds that sound really cartoonish, which is fine since that’s a part of his aesthetic but they just wouldn’t work for another artist.

Taking risks aint as profitable as it used to be back in the 2000s or the 90s.
Niggas dont wanna Atrocity Exhibition themselves into a hole (even though that had more to do with the samples) just because all that'll cost money.
I have a good feeling that's probably why a lot niggas don't be using Knxwledge beats as much as you would think they would. Thank god Lalah Hathaway is a real nigga or else we would've never gotten one of Kendrick's top 5 greatest songs ever.
There's a reason type beats are big on Youtube, rappers are too afraid to really experiment with their sound. Rather get a Drake type beat on Youtube and keep it moving.
