Nah it hasn’t actually
Pre streaming/mp3 era the only way you was able to conveniently listen to your favorite songs from different albums was to record them on cassette and make your own make shift mixtape
Most people ain’t have time for all that and most people ain’t want to switch between multiple cds to bounce around between their favorite songs
Casuals would literally buy an entire album and listen to it from top to bottom. That’s why having too many skips was frowned upon and having no skips was such a big deal. People really lived with albums back in the day
Appreciate the knowledge drop ✊🏾 I guess things changed when burning cds and stuff became the norm? The way we consume music nowadays is mad clutch

Pretty much
But even burning CDs was something only hardcore music heads cared enough to do
Casuals bought albums as is and kept that s*** moving
It was IPod/mp3 culture that really started all that playlist s***

I’m still playing albums in full, like people says it depends on the artist and if they have a cohesive/ conceptual project. Only time I skip a song if it’s a skit cause I heard it bout 500 times already.
I don’t delete songs from albums that s*** weird frl.
I don’t really make playlist but now I have to with my new whip ,and that will be mainly whip music.
And I just let AM get me hip on new music with their artists playlists. playing a song and it recommends other similar artists
😂
None of the people in my life did
You dead gotta be some 17 year old kid from a suburb with the way your taste is and now this.
The same reason why people think that 30 second tiktok videos are good enough to entertain people.

I know you're white
I think a lot of users on OG KTT were pretending to like albums to fit in
What albums

TPAB
iTunes and then streaming killed that for the average listener. Once you could just buy the single n pick out songs you wanna purchase off an album cuz of previews, that basically deaded everything.
op really just made a thread to ask “why do people listen to songs they like”
How do you know what songs you don’t like if you haven’t listened to all of them?
I mean...how would anyone know?
I never listened to a Youngboy album in full cause his music isn't really my speed but I bet he has plenty of stans who do.
Pretty much yeah until they got sick of it
Sometimes the same album would stay on repeat for months
Then you had your folks with the 6 Disc changer and they jumped around a lil more but still they would have the same 6 albums in that mf for like a year 😂
Also there would only be like 6 releases a year anyway 😂
Wayyyyyy less music to consume back then. You had to be there
Yup, the disc changers was how you did it back then. The closest you could get to a random shuffle playlist is burning a bunch of cds of music you downloaded and shuffling that
Albums aren’t albums anymore. They’re more like playlists. Throw as much songs as possible in a album to boost streams
I mean haven’t it always been this way with music? When album first drop the first few spins are full and then as time goes on you just listen to your favorite songs for the most part.
Yup
