Y'all tryna compare it to what it was 10 years ago when there were literally manifestos for mass shootings and other acts of violence planned on it and enacted within the last five years. S***, 4Chan was used by racists heavily last year as a means of communication and organizing to run counter to the Black Lives Matter protests and marches last year.
If anything 4Chan has gotten worse because many of the a******s who were on it heavily lurking and s***posting away ten years ago have grown up and became even more unhinged. Enough to act on the vile s*** they've been posting and reading about throughout the last decade.
There's a reason the site is crawling with even more of the feds now. 4Chan breeds pieces of s***.

SolidSnakua forum that's known for doxxing and stalking people. has gotten worse and worse especially in the past few years. most recently byuu (the developer of bsnes) committed suicide and attributed much of the blame to harassment from them, they had like a whole thread going back five years solely dedicated to harassment. i remember the first comment on the news was some s*** like "lol dead".
i legit haven't seen less empathy on the internet, not even on any of the chans.
I went to a tech school and was a CS major so a lot of my peers was people like this and it was really disturbing being around such people especially in real life

i think the argument is that as long as theyre on the clearnet they can be easily monitored and chance is that once they shut 4chan down theyll go even more extreme and find platform where theyll be harder to monitor becasue theyre not going to change their weird views just becasue the platform gets shut down

I haven't used it since I was a teen in 2014, but /mu/ used to be really good, I remember a guy getting called out for using the N-word there back in the day, impossible to imagine now, /x/ was fun for spooky stories but I could feel myself becoming a worse and more angry person after browsing /v/ a lot so I made a conscious decision to quit using the site
From what I've heard now every board has shades of /pol/ in it these days, I've seen screenshots from /tv/ where people talk about how they won't watch movies by Jewish directors, it's crazy how one site could radicalise so many people

Racist s***posting is very common within most of 4Chan's popular boards. It's been that way since I was in high school. It's at its worse in pol of course, it is a section dedicated to political "discussion". But to say that all that kinda energy is contained to just b and pol is definitely naive.
You can go on mu right now and get called a nlgger completely unprovoked. They still do that "Moon man" s*** in there. Don't even get me started on the wild weirdo racist and insecure s*** that goes on in fit.

Do you know how many boards comprise 4chan? /b/ and /pol/ aren’t the only forums there
They have boards for music, p***, movies, games, business, science, you name it. Overall 4chan is a fine site that can be a reservoir of information if you know how to navigate and use it.
No reason to shut down the entire site because a couple of the boards are on some ed s***. Better to just more heavily moderate those specific boards which they have been doing.
