Never have we seen a startup from the ground up built that has unified the culture in such a way. These guys have done things other rappers have tried to do for decades in half the time. Never before have we had West coast, East coast, Southern, Canadian artists give so much respect and come together with each other to make music, show love, and push the game forward artistically and musically.

You may not notice it or think the impact or the introspect is that deep, but I promise if you take a closer look, you'll appreciate these guys individually and as a whole a lot more. Westside Gunn catches a lot of flak for his voice but what you cannot deny is that he has some catchy ass lines and an unmatched work ethic. He has an ear for beats and great business acumen. And once you realize that he is a persona and get over his voice, you will start to realize that his music is much better than you give it credit for. Once you dig into the background and the culture of Buffalo, d*** dealing, and prison life, you'll realize there is a lot more substance to these bars than surface level. It is simplistic but packs so much punch at the same time.

This is what hip-hop is all about. Coming from nothing and creating everything from it. This in itself is a blueprint that will be studied for generations to come once all is said and done.

    Chinegun, we did it

    Thank god for D*** Dealin

They do well enough. They limited press vinyls and cd's along with merchandise with each release, once its bought its bought. And it sells out. Every. Single. Time.

my homie said they'll never be popular enough and only have 5 fans.
I retorted, who cares when your 5 fans are Eminem, Raekwon, Drake, Kanye, and Jay-Z? And thats just the start of that list tbh. They have a big following but more importantly, they have the entire industry behind them, the most well respected artists in hip-hop, even from different generations all support them, so they clearly represent something special.

Every project drop they grow and grow, both artistically, musically and in popularity. And if you've been with them since the beginning, it has been some of the most beautiful s*** I have ever seen and it proves that if you keep grinding and keep pushing you will eventually break through and your hard work will pay off. Every single member should be an inspiration that you CAN make something from NOTHING and no matter how bad it gets, you can bounce right back to greatness.

That’s not what they’re in the game for. They came up using the DtC model and Bandcamp building the base slowly. If you’re looking to clown them for not doing Uzi numbers you don’t understand them or the scene they helped create at all. They don’t care about numbers. They might be leaving Shady too.

Westside Gunn’s vocals are fire to me

He could’ve easily fit in Wu Tang imo

  • Can somebody rank and rate all Griselda projects please. Always been wanting to have a marathon

They’re still pigeon holed though. Branching out isn’t just about sales it’s about artistry. They have been making the same kind of music for years now. Just becoming repetitive to me

Idk bro, hip hop never been about that s***. If you listen to this new album, it feels like such an ode to the game. Talents from various parts of it coming together for some authentic rapping with a unique style. Its not a sound that will ever move units but in terms of underground hip hop, they are considered one of the best out.

I can’t remember who was talking about it (Rosenberg probably). They were saying that dudes like Mach, Griselda, Ka, Earl, etc. are all underground mainstream and that the internet has allowed for dudes to really shine in a new way. You just have to be tapped in to really hear it.

I for one, really enjoy the two very distinct styles of rapping. It’s nice because it allows for me to split it cleanly down the middle with some s*** that has some crossover. Sometimes I wanna listen to more lyrical, gritty s*** like Griselda, other days I wanna listen to melodic, trap s*** like Thug. Both can exist without taking away from the other.

Have you not paid attention to the artwork Gunn buys and has commissioned, or how involved in fashion he is? and when it comes to the musically statement, the fact that they are pushing it back in the direction of boom bap and a more old school sound, as well as unifying so many acts to come together and make music together? So yes, I would have to say they are helping push the culture as a whole, as well as art, fashion and even the music, forward.
