I’m genuinely thinking about it and all these young niggas love talking s*** about age but all the rappers they consider goat status and glaze on reddit all day were born in the 90s or before.
No one born the 2000s or even the early 00s has become a staple or hit that Carti, Travis, Drake or Ye level of hoopla surrounding their projects rollouts. S*** even Keef was a staple and that was obvious pretty early into his career. For a generation of mfs that doesn’t stfu about age they sure aren’t holding up their end of the bargain 😂
I just don’t think music is their thing tbh this younger generation is better at just being influencers and a spectacle on social media and streaming and s*** like that. These mfs have zero charisma, taste, presence or “aura” irl ironically they have none of what their most overused word is lmao
Clearly the agenda is to keep the industry young and labels even decided to play by their rules by making this social media and tiktok s*** a necessity to blow and it still isn’t showing any promising results. Most people don’t even want to see an interview from them cause theres nothing to unpack.
I don’t think these mfs were born to be professional musicians ngl. Maybe internet music at most but they don’t have what it takes for the big leagues.

Artists born in the early 2000s are still in their early 20s or younger. Many iconic rappers like Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, and even Drake didn’t achieve "GOAT" status until their late 20s or 30s.
Give it time. artists like Baby Keem (born 2000) or Ice Spice (born 2000) are already gaining decent enough critical and commercial momentum.
The idea of a “staple” artist is changing, too. Streaming democratizes access, so fame is more fragmented but no less significant. An artist like Central Cee (born 1998) or GloRilla (born 1999) may not have Drake’s omnipresence, but they dominate Gen Z playlists and redefine what mainstream success looks like. Not comparing those folks at all, but hyper consumption changes a lot of s*** up.
We’re all still trying to figure out what the modern definition of staple even is, and the music industry is structurally and culturally unrecognizable from the 2010s
Do you see any Jimi Hendrix rockstar level musician or any Michael Jackson popstar musician nowadays?
Or any Einstein or Tesla scientists nowadays?
Thats why they are called generational

I feel you but I feel like everyone knows when someone is special. It’s instant. I don’t mean just talented either. Think like Pop Smoke. It was instant, everyone knew bro was a star. That it factor. Same thing with Uzi, Tyler etc. I don’t really see that in these born in early 00s artists. Ice Spice isn’t it and I kinda lost faith in Keem being the guy.
Also crazy that my whole reason for making this thread was seeing these dumb white kids online keep calling everyone older than them “unc” lmao but then they turn around and cosplay as Travis, Uzi or Carti who are all either pushing or already 30+. Made me realize damn no rapper around your age or younger is cool enough for you to even want to mimic. The so called “uncs” still got all the sauce. The only people around their age that they mimic are usually influencers and streamers, not artists. The artists they mimic are always about a generation older all the while still being ageists 🤦🏽♂️😂

I have a theory than a lot of soon to be artists that were born in the mid to late 90s gave up when covid and all that happened. Probably messed with their head and once they saw the whole landscape of music change just said “fuck this s***, there’s real life going on rn this music s*** for kids now”
Cause I swear there’s a gap missing of artists born in that timeframe that we’re just now starting to see pop up and it’s just a few of them
They don’t consistently make quality projects
And that’s what it really comes down to. The music. Just having a buzz, co-signs and being seen next to every celebrity isn’t enough. Being in the big leagues is about big albums. Albums that stand the test of time. I mean at the end of the day that’s what all the exposure is for anyway. To get people to play your music and get your album. The pictures and fits meant nothing without the music being good back then. Now these morons praise clothes and clout more than music lmao.
No matter what’s changed or whatever algorithm these idiots are chasing I think people still appreciate a great album. That’s what sets you apart. Making a great album is only an outdated concept if you’re incapable of making one and only want singles to boost your engagement online. Most artists that make great albums disappear for a while and let the music speak for them. These kids wouldn’t dare, they all act mysterious but post on ig stories everyday cause they’re influencers with record deals not musicians 😂
RIP X, Juice and Pop
I honestly don’t think these guys would have gone superstar but be like legends in their niches if that makes sense.

I disagree but I aint mad at your perspective.

X and Juice were already huge at the time of their deaths tho.
Carti hadn't hit Drake or whoever levels of fame in 2015, 16 or 17
My little brothers treat Underdog like I treated Luv is Rage

Yeah I mean YG has 2 classic first albums but that didn’t last long.
I could see X’s career lasting a while cuz he filled a void mixing metal and emo s*** with rap and that spoke to a lot of people that no one has really done since, but he was so unpredictable idk.
Juice WRLD was pretty emo too and yeah he was gaining allot of traction before he passed but idk man he’d have his fans but neither of these guys spoke to me so I just don’t really see the vision.
Also these guys would rap and I know juice was a crazy freestyler but i don’t think they would’ve leaned into rapping, I think they would become more melodic over time and less about rapping but who knows
-They suck
-Too many rappers
-Times have changed
-Having a "classic album" is some boomer s***
