Not even just 2000s but legit none born after the year 1996 have any crossover motion besides like a few. And we’re just now seeing people born in the late 90s cross over in pop, like within the last two years tops. It’s a gen z-born crossover musical drought period outside of a literal handful of names. Needs to be studied
Yeah this is kinda the point I was making in the first page, people born in 1996 were 23-24 when covid hit, that’s really around the age where most start to release quality s***, start gaining traction and make their mark. Watching the whole music landscape and just world change during that time probably led a lot of soon to be artists to quit and just focus on real life instead. Even more when it seems like s*** is all run by social media kids now.
The few artists born around those years that did go on to do s*** were already probably in those circles pre covid and are now getting the industry push and nominated for awards like best new artists at the grammys and s*** like that lmao but it isn’t even that many of them tbh.
The reason most underground rappers are kids is cause the industry knows they’re s*** and don’t trust them to flourish in the big leagues but they’re ok with the internet clout so they don’t even care. I truly do think these kids just don’t have what it takes to be professional musicians, their skills are getting attention online with s*** like streaming or being an influencer. Not music.
Your last point is very false.
When an album with classic quality drops today, it still gets lauded above run of the mill albums.
Name the last time that's happened from a new artist
Yeah, thanks for proving my point yow low iq f*** lmao no way there isn’t some inbreeding going in your lineage if you actually think you’re making sense rn smh this nigga is ret@rded 😂
You're not making any point lol all you're doing is d***riding niggas for respectfully disagreeing with me
So giving effort to something is “boomer” now?
Most of them don't try now so yeah lol
What do 2000s born rappers offer to the culture that hasn't already been done to death by their older siblings by this point?
And as other said on here, these ones being pushed don't seem to treat it like a full time job or passion, just an avenue to boost their SM presence to access other parts of entertainment.
They're all like 24kGoldn or Rich Amiri types, that stuff doesn't penetrate the cultural zeitgeist
No lore building with these young dudes

It’s gonna be some random 22-27 year old per usual that leads the way for rap (hence a big reason why Doechii looks like an immediate candidate)

She 1998 but we'll count her pls drop a good album doechi
eh
i think there are staple artists who are young, they just dont have the benefit of the media via tv/radio like artists used to depend on
guys like ken carson are very popular but not gonna see him on the super bowl, its a different era, it has nothing to do with artist talent
some of yall sound so f***ing jaded lmao
rich amiri? nobody sounds like rich amiri or is inspired by rich amiri

i completely disagree with first part but the last part has merit, most of these dudes lore is sexual assault and getting arrested for ed s***
I have a theory than a lot of soon to be artists that were born in the mid to late 90s gave up when covid and all that happened. Probably messed with their head and once they saw the whole landscape of music change just said “fuck this s***, there’s real life going on rn this music s*** for kids now”
Cause I swear there’s a gap missing of artists born in that timeframe that we’re just now starting to see pop up and it’s just a few of them
true
