She’s never been an artist just a glorified social media personality the industry could use to push negative stereotypes onto our people/youth

I believe some artists just drop the right album at the right time and never seem to follow up.

Chance is another example in 2016 and Cardi B will be one as well when she drops again

If she could get in this bag for a whole album i would listen

Honestly, she caught lightning in the bottle with IOP.

I was following her before Bodak Yellow. I used to catch her on LHH and see a few of her vids on Worldstar. She was bubbling but no one actually thought she would make it..........until she did.

But her reign wasn't really sustainable. The ghostwriter s*** made people view her as less authentic or artistic. The songs, while really catchy, weren't all that unique(Hell, her first big hit was basically a gentrified version of a Yak song). And she was bigger as a tabloid/drama celebrity and personality than a rapper/artist.

The worst mistake of her career though was not capitalizing on the WAP/Up buzz when she was getting the most attention worldwide since Bodak. Not dropping an album in 2021 after all that buzz/clout caused many people to move on from her and focus more on Doja Cat and other female rappers.

But I think Cardi wasn't really built for longevity to begin with. I think she was sorta always meant to have a short-lived career like Roddy but the labels wanted a "new Nikki" so bad that they hyped her up as the new Queen of Rap anyway.

  • She scared to drop a full body of work. She even scared to drop solo single now.

  • because she sucks, that’s why

yeah even most of her album was filled with rip-offs, like Get Up 10 was really just a super poorly rehashed version of Dreams & Nightmares

Up should’ve been the single to jump into a whole album roll out with. The only song after her debut that’s really worked imo

Like I said she’s not an artist my guy. She’s extremely entertaining and popular but I highly doubt she gives a f*** about making music nor has the passion for it, she’s a charismatic ex stripper with a huge personality that people naturally gravitate towards which is great but outside of her few HUGE hits she’s more known for her social media antics & relationships. Not trying to disregard the success she’s had with music either her team has done a wonderful job outside of capitalizing on the WAP hype

I truly think she and Rihanna don’t think they can surpass their last albums, so they refuse to drop anything else

It doesn’t help that the single’s she’s dropped haven’t been that successful. Bongos came and went. Hot S*** was hot mid. If there was a time for her to drop a follow up, it would’ve been after WAP in 2020

rihanna probably the most overrated pop star to emerge in the 2010s, but this site is far from prepared for that conversation lol

she had wap and up back to back

even please me and money did great tbh.

It honestly doesn't make sense why she waited till her hype started to die down.

You have to start with why they do music to begin with. It is an ends to a mean that can be achieved with other avenues that or often more lucrative then the music route.

There could be some credence to the scared to drop or scared to pick a direction to go in. She bodies her features on other peoples records who are usually more street and younger music wise while her own singles are all glammed up and not as succesfull anymore.

  • She too busy drowning her fried chicken in honey and hot sauce

  • Kodak Spice

she was scared to go up against nicki

I was gonna troll and say the same thing but you might be right

I mean you could say this about anyone tho.

Any one of Drake, Kendrick, Cole, Nicki, Wayne, Quavo, Offset, 21 savage could stop now and their great grandchildren wouldnt need to work (provided their assets are properly managed)

The truth is what everyone has already said, she’s afraid to flop bc she can’t capture lightning in a bottle again like with IOP

  • Cardi is one of the few artists hyped by both the streets and publications so it will be harder for her to live up to the expectations of both

    No need financially.

She’s not an artist that does it for the love.

  • This what happens when a person doesn’t have the passion for music

Yeah that album should have dropped right when Up hit no.1

I agree with you brother. I mean that type of music worked for the audience at that time, and now it won't which shows what kind of artist she really is.

That bongos song should’ve never seen the light of day. Terrible

Hoes pop pills, but I'm the one they can't take

  • JPEGMAFIA

There's no money in music, the music is a vehicle to put you in the place to make money elsewhere. She doesnt need music anymore

    This

I think her rap career is basically over at this point

Without a successful hit, her album is gonna flop badly
