I’d derive much more satisfaction knowing someone has turned their life around than inflicting pain on them, which would eventually resolve on their end, but my issues likely never would if I were willing to go to such an extreme.

This kind of mentality is more a condemnation of our society as a whole in that we don’t have confidence in the fact that people are held accountable for their actions, and here in the States our brand of justice tends to be barbaric at times, which is normalized and appears warranted with no other recourse when other nations have found ulterior methods that have proven to be far more successful than our own, while simultaneously being more humane.
