Country was always popular. Garth Brooks has like 50 Diamond albums.
It just took a while for country fans to get used to streaming their artists.
crazy you still can’t stream his music on spotify or apple, it’s only on f***ing amazon music lol
but anyway it’s the pendulum swinging back and forth as it always does. it swung towards rap when the streaming era began. it swung back to pop for a little and now it’s towards country. rock will probably have a resurgence and then rap. that’s just how it goes
so get ahead of the curve and start making that rock album
Rock fans are some of the biggest gatekeepers in music so I don't see it coming back for that reason.
The level of vile hatred MGK received from snobby Rock fans proves this. Rock fans would rather stick with the same "Dad Rock" artists than embrace newcomers in the scene.
But I do see Country filling in the gap between Rap and Pop just like EDM music did in the early 2010's.
olivia rodrigo album about to make sumn shake allegedly… it mostly rock
so get ahead of the curve and start making that rock album

Man...people have been predicting Rock's "comeback" for many years.
Yet they ignore that Rock fans almost never embraced mainstream and Pop Friendly Rock artists like Imagine Dragons or Maroon 5 as their own.
And MGK's fanbase mainly consists of teenage girls going through their Pop Punk revival phase.
The reality is that the "Dad Rock" brand is way too strong to compete for newer bands which is why Rock is mainly thriving in the indie scene rn where they can depend on core fans as opposed to mainstream ones.

Tons of Pop and Rap acts incorporated Rock influences in their music. But it's still not associated with the genre as a whole.

Unless they make Pop Rock hits, they're not going to dominate.
And Rock fans look down on Pop Rock bands.
It's that simple. That's why Pop artists incorporating Rock like Olivia or Taylor Swift are bigger than the purer bands.
