theres been abusive artists on most labels, that doesnt really effect anything with the artists who aren't participating it or albums that came out before that stuff was an issue. i know stuff happened with dem atlas & prof for example, but as far as I'm aware they dropped both of them afterwards?

The issue is that most of the people were aware of what was going on and let it happen until it was called out. I’ve been tightly knit with their community for years and theres a lot of s*** that went down that puts a bad taste in my mouth to the point I gotta skip most of everything rhymesayers, doomtree etc related that crops up on recommended. Nowadays I only f*** with Fake Four mostly when it comes to underground and I still listen to aesop rock even though Im conflicted with the kimya dawson situation

Didn’t know Rhymesayers and Doomtree was involved with s*** like that, it’s a shame since there are so many talented artists on those labels

A lot of them are washed lets be real. The myspace era is over and there are so many new artists reshaping the industry and creating all kinds of sonics for us. We don’t need these crusty gatekeepers anymore. Rhymesayers is known for signing artists and putting them in a box just to only promote atmosphere and brother ali. I had to b**** Sean out to make them promote a new grayskul album once. They never gave a s*** about their artists, they are worse than GOOD music with how they treated their ppl.

That's a shame to be honest about the situation with the label, but it's not uncommon with indie labels. The economics and overall business of the music industry is a mess.
Regardless their 00s catalog is classic to me and there's not much that's gonna diminish that realistically, although their fall off post-2010s is definitely sad to see - Aesop Rock is basically the only dude making great music still from that label. That said GLU is one of my favorite albums ever.

I still play this album all the time. That Roc verse is my favorite verse he ever did.

This whole album was incredible. Glad we have part 2 coming this year.

every album he put out flew under a radar man , but is that a bad thing? EV has such a solid discography. Every album is timeless. His voice is so relaxed and chill, and is ear for beatz is crazy. He is one of my favorite artists. Last year he blessed us with The Unlearning. In the corona period he just went back home in his studio cooking beatz and writing verses took a break of everything and got back 2 basics. Thats crazy imo.

I knew worst comes 2 worst from dilated peoples and than in 2007 , The Weatherman LP dropped. I played that album so much that year man. Still one of my alltime favorites

    Shout out to EV man
