If you read the OP, I’ve never referred to women as “females.” I asked my question because I was honestly confused as to why people seem more offended by that word now more than ever
This thread taught me a lot so I don’t regret making it
thread also outed a few women-haters & gave some good laughs about @LandoTHELOST’s whole “there’s no such thing as black” tangent when dude posted the hand pic
guys really came itt to tell people that a term that isn’t used to refer to them isn’t offensive & that they’d keep using it even though the people it does refer to say it’s offensive & have provided sound logic as to why it is
they took your title as “why is ‘female’ offensive? i’m tired of this liberal snowflake PC agenda” when you really wanted to know the actual reason lmao

Just to explain, being black is about more than skin color. But that’s a whole different thread that many are not ready for.

ima stay out of that conversation since i’m not black, but i’m assuming you’re referring to something about classism based on previous posts
Nobody in real life who identifies as a female would be upset over being called one
Although tone can change meaning of any word but that's another convo
no, you don’t refer to women as females and if you do im going to assume english isn’t your first language
to make it simple:
female doesn’t imply human it’s just an implication of s***
female dog
female human
female whatever
a young human female is a girl
an older human female is a woman

I'm not saying you have I'm just saying I'm surprised you made the thread. Would've thought you were already aware of why it's perceived as a offensive from women.

its not the most elegant way to describe a woman but that wasn't the question. The question was if it was offensive
Odd, sure, but nobody with any sense would find it offensive.

Somewhat classism, but mostly to do with social adherance and propaganda in the same way “Commies are red”

definitely offensive bc contextually, when it’s used as a noun (which isn’t grammatically correct in the first place; you should never use it as a noun regardless of if you understand why it’s also offensive to do so), guys often use it as a replacement word for “bitch” so that they don’t get called out for calling women “bitches” in public

Cmon bro now you’re projecting. You can’t throw your comfort with referring to women by their vagina on the whole world. If no women thought that was offensive this thread wouldn’t exist.
Would I have referred to women as females about 2 years ago? Sure I probably would think nothing of it, but the onus is on you to learn, not for everyone else to teach you manners.

gotchu. i’ve seen a lot of think pieces & debates on social media about the topic, so if you do make that thread, just don’t fall into a “no true scotsman” fallacy

that last sentence is so important
Because losers started using it a weird way on the internet. Almost in a slanderous manner
Irl most people don't think it's derogatory
it was offensive before losers even existed
This is bs lol
Females be acting crazy
B****es be acting crazy
It's just a the diet way twitter uses b****es.
Whether or not you use it doesn't matter when the twitter audience dictates the use lol

I said in my first post that anything can be offensive with tone. If you are subbing b**** for female than it probably has a nasty tone behind it
Oxford dictionary says it can be used as a noun, but primarily as an adjective

nobody finds the word itself offensive, but again the first post already said context is important.
idk why this got to 17 pages

Aside from the female debate, in general if just because one person finds something offensive it does not make it offensive. If i'm a warriors fan and I said being called a warriors fan was offensive, does that make it so?
Again, it's an awkward way to refer to someone but in my opinion it's not offensive. And people who find it offensive need to relax.

original post doesn't mention context but ya I agree.
Twitter has plagued minds

i was gonna add in “except to refer to wildlife in a biological manner” to the part in parentheses but figured it would be too clunky structure-wise
& for it to grammatically be correct when referring to humans, it only really works within the scope of anthropology, since that’s the study of humans in a biological sense like how you’d study wildlife. outside of that, it’s derogatory

As you can see, both usages of the word in noun form are contextualized by a science format.
Can’t you see how referring to people as if they are part in an experiment is deemed offensive?
Like how if someone were to refer to Africans as “Negroids” would be totally out of line
Edit: There’s a place for all words. Understanding what their place is comprises a large part of being a socially able person
Mans comparing female to the n word
No. You don’t get it. It’s not like using the n word because that started as a derogatory term. “Negroid” is a classification that started from the study of biology when talking about genetics hailing from Africa in its origin. The N word was always an insult. It’s two different things man
