y'all never seen a pink floyd fan calling roger waters washed man
deflection from not being able to do what the genre fundamentally requires so they can copy what their peers or niggas ten years ago did instead of approaching s*** the same way future thug keef did in the first place where they took influence from t pain wayne gucci but within 3 years of us knowing about them they had their complete own thing
y'all never seen a pink floyd fan calling roger waters washed man
u been around for the dark side of the moon redux a few years back?
yall just say s*** at this point
Disrespects is a strong word but I don't exactly disagree with @ranupstatefromjake
There are people like 50, Janet Jackson, Chaka Khan and Chris Brown saying they're more appreciated overseas than in America.
Legacy acts in rap do get called washed and people act like they aren't supposed to be dropping music anymore.
The rock acts are revered though.
kanye is the most washed out of any one in history and i still listen to his music every day. he'll be fine

we are the cutting edge of pop culture for better or worse so it's easier to have a "what have you done for me lately" mentality whereas overseas places seem to kind of enjoy the trickle down of the past 5-15-20 years of American pop culture, once you're on you're "on" whereas in America they'll say a nigga like Roddy Ricch fell off because of one (arguably) bad album
They respect the spectacle/peak of an artist's moment way more than we do
No, it happens in rock constantly

Its just called flopped everywhere else
Rock and metal fans call legacy acts sell-outs or washed up all the time
Speak on it mfs lame

american artists are appreciated overseas because they came from overseas, this has nothing to do with genre or geography
wait until your average rap listeners get at least another decade older and youll see nothing but love for their favorite childhood acts. also something something giving flowers when people wont be able to smell them
Black people always gotta work 10x harder to get the same lenience that white people get
also a lot of rappers are kinda washed too though we cant just skip past that. there should be a diff word for it that isnt as dismissive of the entire musician but it is what it is
i dont think people calling someone like Game or Snoop washed are 'obsessed' with the label
i think band vs individual got something to do with it
bands change members, break up, reform so the band is kind of an entity outside of its members whereas with rap its largely individuals or duos where one persons actions reflect more

i feel like europeans (eastern europeans especially) have a warped view of "american culture" that's stuck in 2004 where 50 cent is like the greatest rapper of all time / most emblematic of what they view as hip hop
probably something to do with the fall of the ussr
Valid question
People will clown on Eminem or Wayne. Not that they don’t deserve some of it but they’ve been rapping for almost 30 years now. Their legacy is cemented, I don’t see any new stuff as tarnishing that.
Nobody stays on top forever.
bro literally whole genres were being called washed lmao
"nobody listens to techno"
“Jazz is dead” was commonphrase at a point too
