Like what happened to the hilarious skit channels that used to be so popular? You go on the trending page and its weird E couple s*** or vloggers. Has the demographic for it changed dramatically in the last decade?

I mean back around 2006 no one was making a living off of it, so you just had a bunch of people uploading random s*** they thought was funny. Now people have to cater to an audience, and more importantly to the ad companies

They put profit over creativity. Back in the day channels could make anything their heart desires. Now everything is formulaic or trying to game the algorithms in place

This is what monetization does. What capitalism does.

Imagine the art people could create if they didn't need it to be profitable for a yt collar exec or if they didn't need to work a second job to pay bills

There’s an algorithm on YouTube you can exploit to blow up now, that’s why there’s so many new you tubers who’ve been going a year or less with over 100k subs

In a society where resources for art are democratically allocated, to be able to make large projects artists would still need to conform to restrictions put on them by other people. In the current system, you really don’t have to do anything you don’t want to, it’s just that appealing to children with clickbait vlogs is more profitable than short term skits. Guys are still free to do whatever they want, and a lot of non-lame stuff is still more than profitable enough to provide a living for many of the creators that make them, you just have to look past the trending page and you’ll find some

Free to do whatever they want when they have to make sure it's profitable is pretty shackled imo.

The only thing that’s not profitable on YouTube is excessive profanity and being racist/homophobic. Not exactly a large hurdle to cross. Once again, in a socialist society, if you would want to make a living off of creative arts, then necessarily, the resources for you to make such art would have to be allocated democratically (which really means according to the government). In that case, you’d still have to conform to some extent to what other people want. And in both cases, anyone can make whatever cheaply made video they want, and making videos on YouTube isn’t exactly expensive

I was down with ReviewTechUSA since the early days, when he wasn't even on camera. But had to unsub from duke like a month or two ago.

Mans sold his soul for them subs. Grown ass man playing with his nipples, having this weird ass cucumber fetish and belching like a whole manchild... yeah. Used to go to him for the real, but now he mostly covers all the drama and bullshit.

I'm just like what happened duke?
