It’s one of those things where people aren’t massively concerned to push for it.

Legal/governmental logistic nightmare, too. Current system of spousal rights etc are all pretty clear and fit for two people. Divorce; splitting of assets; care of children etc… solid laws and practices would all need to be massively tweaked and tailored.
