Sad seeing what rap has become. Listen to the Flava In Ya Ear remix with Biggie, LL, Craig Mack and Busta. Each of them have such a different and unique style smh sad what rap has become. Now everybody has the same flow, same beats, same subject matter. same s***
U don’t even need to go that far back tho lol. I’d say the early 10’s rappers still had their own style and character
And things shifted during the SoundCloud era
Casuals don’t like aggressive hip hop or anything that deviates from the focus group pop rap sound

thank me later
Anything that becomes super popular will end up being generic over time, granted a lot of the new mainstream rappers lack versatility, their styles are profitable and what makes them popular.
Imagine Air Force Ones by Nelly being one of the most popular songs around that time and people dare to s*** talk the era we’re currently in.
Air force ones is much better than 80 percent of music out today
Bad examples kind of in OP but agree that versatility is lacking in most artists

drake make an array of hits that all sound different try again

Normally I would agree but post 2018 he’s been a lot more aggressive hence his renewed run

Exactly , love or hate them, they’re FAR from bland. Especially DaBaby. Dudes be washed at a young age and it’s sad to see. There should be a requirement to listen to at least 80% of someone’s catalog before talking on them.
