The second I heard this I understood why people are s***ting on him.... because he's different.
The variety of production of semen, d***s and spiderporn on the posts is well crafted, unique and diverse. It owes more to underground s***, trash and garbage, than drake sxn
However this is a filter of sorts. Hopefully it's so abrasive that @op's image improves

WLR and Yeezus are cut from the same cloth. The same aggressiveness, same rawness, similar energy, etc. yeezus is more condensed and WLR is more like a stream

There is nothing wrong with the old or classics. You can tell Carti really respects the pioneers of several genres, Jimi Hendrix, soulja boy, Kanye, In fact the fastest way to evolve musically is to truly understand the greats and listen to their process, their method and tweak it.

My girlfriend is more into underground punk and and didn't even know who a Biggie smalls, Kendrick lamar or Deltron 3030 outside of gorillaz. However I didn't say "Holy s*** wtf is wrong with you, you have horrible taste"
I had her send me playlists and get crates full of underground s*** from her dad, I listened to them, Picked out what I liked and didn't like and it's improved my creativity greatly.

On the other hand, Because I gave the time and respect to listen to her taste and appreciate it, She felt she had to listen with an open mind so now I have a short white girl singing and dancing to king kunta and reciting TPAB's poetry.

Punk/metal and hip hop are an amazing combination if done right because at their core, They're both about the underclass and impoverished finding their own creative and healthy way of channeling their anger into change against the societal systems in place, It just takes deep understanding of both to make a good combo and I totally see WLR as a drastic step up from Die lit and even the @meh sound

One issue now with Carti still is that the writing and lyrics are very basic, surface level and materialistic.

I hope everyone dislikes this album in the moment and hopefully for years to come, I really do, It gives me more time to evolve the sound and get my own bag,
. Because this sound is genius to me and I think the majority opinion will shift with retrospect
