    Hard to argue against Common's opinion

    genius.com/a/common-says-kendrick-lamar-has-four-classic-albums

    I prefer stevie wonder's opinion when he said kendrick had 5 undisputed classics

    meanwhile drake still has 0

    Common is just a man from the 90's with a similar style and outlook if anything he'd be most likely to be biased

    Not a classic at all, it has 3 or 4 really great songs and 3or4 decent songs and some really low lows and questionable skits

    By trying to discredit the consensus best album of the decade, you're gonna discredit every single album from your favorite artists.

    Tpab is a classic, period.

    !

    https://twitter.com/metacritic/status/1207796888604307456

    -Highest rated rap album of all time;
    -voted by critics as the best album of the decade, 5 years later;
    -most grammy nominations in a single night since Michael Jackson;
    -influenced albums from GOAT and legendary artists like Herbie Hancock, Prince, David Bowie, Public Enemy, etc (not to mention newschool artists like Danny Brown, etc);
    -contains what is considered as the BLM anthem;
    -is being credited by most jazz artists as the album that revived Jazz;
    -often considered, by many great artists, as one of the best albums ever made, regardless of the genre;
    -archived at Harvard

    yeah ok, nice try

    consensus lol

    Yep, playing it back. It had the feel of one of those over the top slave or Jim crow movies where they cheaply spin the Blackman's plight in heavy handed manufactured way right before award season. As a black man I can't respect this as being much more than critic bait which is a selling out in a different way.

  • Apr 23, 2020

    idk why niggas think because something isn’t for them, it doesn’t deserve the love other people have for it

    you niggas are haters. that’s what it boils down to.

    I wonder if tpab will ever be topped as far as quality goes

    like herbie hancock said, it really is a top 5 album of all time, in any genre, thats GOAT stuff. Its up there with Prine and Nina Simone best records. Worst song on there is probably 9/10

    Tbh i dont actually feel like on the album kendrick is that direct and blatant in ur face about it

    To me its actually the critics and discourse around it added a lot of cringe meaning n s*** too it and afterreading some of the “big” opinions on it it seemed like they ehard a diff album to me - or just took alright and projected it onto he whole thing

    My problem with tpab is more the songs while having nice raps and good quality lroduction, lacks a lot of musicality in a lot of the songs and i cant feep any desire to move and go a longg with a melody in hardly any of the tracks

    This is the kind of cringe discourse that autists project on tpab for some reason
