It’s one of the lowest rated songs of his career, despite the fact that he’s rapping his tail off! This is coming off the heels of the amount of praise he received for PushUps and Family Matters where he displayed his best showmanship. I’m not even a huge fan and even I found it strange that everybody straight up ignored his last two records.
seemed like he was more on the defensive. multiple lines about being too famous to f*** young girls, mille bobby brown, etc. embarrassing track, he honestly should’ve left it at family matters
Very boring
Defeat drips from every word
Dreadful 'Mother I' scheme that leads to 'Gotcha! You were molested!', which doesn't look good from anyone
Spoken-word outro where Drake basically concedes the loss and admits he would dance to Kendrick's song if it wasn't calling him a pedophile
Last 2 records didn’t get much attention because Kendrick stepped on Family Matter’s release with Meet The Grahams. Shock value was thru the roof. & Me being a huge Drake fan I kinda never wanna hear Heart Pt. 6 again. Was not a good follow up to Meet the Grahams & Not Like Us energy wise or concept wise
That said tho I think it’ll go down and one of the most misunderstood rap songs of all time tbh. I see a lot that people are just getting wrong with this track, like thinking he called himself the clowns that gave Kendrick the information
"Im too famous to be a pedophile"

Song will age like fine wine
It wasn’t received well because people didn’t want it to be received well lol the internet was gonna s*** on anything he put out
Drake barred tf up on this song and the beat is fire.
this was way too lyrical for general fans, they simply dont get the bars and run with the easiest narrative that its to hate on him
imo its a great response but he shoulda knew they were going to flip this on him

This. They didn't like to concede their messiah was out barred, out strategized by a singing dude from Canada. I think this was also more of USA vs Canada than anything else. It was also all the fans of Kanye, weeknd, Kendrick, future, metro groomin, ASAP rocky, Rick Ross against Drake. Not just the artists but their entire collective fanbases bombarding every comment section against one guy. None of Drake's bars, rebuttals, punchlines were counted at all. Like I've seen nobody mention HOW Kendrick won strictly on a technicality basis against Drake in a rap battle. They just declared him to be the winner. That tells you how biased this was. This was more of Hate Drake than anything else.
A lot of denial in here tbh. The song had some good moments but it felt a bit rushed to get a response out and given the fact that he titled it as such it was going to be held to an unbelievably high expectation that it did not meet. I don’t think the talking part at the end helps the song either, it really sounded like a mixture of rambling on about the situation rather than putting it into the music and basically conceding that Kendrick did the one thing that he could always hang his hat on and that’s make a hit
I can agree it sounded rushed,
But let’s be honest, drake defending himself on these heinous accusations over the years was inevitable,
And people have already made their mind up about Drake so when he mentions it? Everyone wanna dog pile
Heart Part 6 might be my most listened to diss record and the fact it’s one of the most disliked YouTube videos or whatever proved it did its job
Leave them with disrespect

we could say this is the darkest drake song ever/so far and that’s interesting

when it first dropped I thought he shut it down and earned the W. The beat, tone, and delivery seemed top tier. When the dust settled there was a few things that I thought he could have done better.
One being I feel like he addressed the teenage/ pedo thing a couple times extra.. Felt like he should have kept to 1 line maybe 2.
The other being the set up of Kendrick felt like it lacked the impact it should have. I can't really explain it but I think if there was some sort of proof he could have thrown it there it would have hit harder.
The "you were molested" bit is fairly brilliant considering it is a dig at Kendrick who still likely has a scarred past from people telling him that he was molested despite denying it...but that wasn't going to be received well with the public and he dragged out the bars talking about it.
I for one enjoyed the outro where he was talking...
The "Mother I" bars going over a lot of people's heads... The point was Kendrick was traumatized by his family continually believing he was molested despite him denying it. If Kendrick did this to Drake it would have been viewed as "surgical" but they are just perceived differently. It is just the reality of the situation.
The genius of Drake has always been that casual listeners can understand a bar (at least at in a more literal, straightforward sense) so it is easily digestible for the general public but the same bar almost always has deeper meaning (whether it be a sub, entendre, metaphor, etc.) which people like us here on KTT are obviously interested in.
I think even Drake haters would admit he is pretty good at incorporating subs into his bars. Even Pusha said he is amazing at subs. It is contradictory to say someone is good at subs but only offers superficial bars.

It's not rocket science
People ALWAYS overrate their opinions on songs and underrate the value of group think when it comes to mass opinions on said songs. People at large, like / don't like what the masses tell them to.
Drake has benefitted from this. Just...not this time. He's on the wrong side of groupthink, that's all.
If someone tells you that it's because "The song sucks" or "He didn't do xy&z on the record" they are lying.
People don’t care about how well he raps and never did really
They completely take it for granted and everything but the surface level face value interpretation of what he’s saying goes right over their heads
Not bc it’s “too deep” for them to understand but because their bias towards him and preconceived notions about him color their listening experience
People who are actually objective and care about good rapping typically like both kendrick and Drake
HP6 was definitely one of the more impressive lyrical performances of the beef and real ones know that.
It is understandable that people didn’t like him waiving the white flag after such an aggressive attack from Kendrick dropping MTG & Not Like Us back to back though
partially cause ppl already made up their mind i think and kendrick won after not like us
secondly, personally, cause the whole planting evidence thing was just insanely stupid, corny, and outright moronic.
There's a ton of great bars but the whole the 'Mother I', 'Never looked twice at no teenager', and 'If I was a pedo I would've been arrested by now' are just terrible
