I started replaying my wii a couple of days ago, and the library of amazing games this system has is incredible

So much diversity in genres, there’s truly something for everybody on this system; Nintendo of course snapped with their array of First party titles, but the Wii also had an amazing amount of third party titles that have aged incredibly well for the most part

Op will be developed more somewhere down the line

Hack it already and unleash the crazy library

The first person shooters alone are goat

Plus all of the other ones I haven’t played yet

Not really impressed with the functionality of it though, although I do need to do more research/playing around with it. Very rough around the edges on first impressions

What don’t you like about it?

my brother and I came home from school one day and our parents surprised us with it and were already playing it

holding down the d-pad on the bowling loading screen to get a different colour ball

its motions controls, its imo mostly garbage library (I know people either love or hate the library tho no inbetween just depends) & its graphics + performance even for the time

there are some certified bangers on there tho, mainstream n under the radar

also gotta admit that Okami n Pikmin 2 best ports are on the Wii which i love those titles top 10 games oat

Fair enough, a lot games did overuse the motion controls for sure. That said, pikmin 1 + 2 without the motion controls doesn’t feel the same

I don’t really care about graphics that much, but I do manage to find Nintendo to be ingenious for having the #1 system of that generation in terms of sales with what was essentially a repackaged GameCube

It has a lot of shovelware for sure but I think that’s a perk of being the #1 selling system, it was the same with the NES. That said, I think it has an amazing library of games

i mean its number 1 for its gimmick n sports, mosy wii games actually didnt sell well even 1st party n especially 3rd party which is why nintendo has 3rd party support troubles to this day

but yeah it has some positives, a lot of games that didnt need motion controls were forced tho n a lot of them dont have the controller support

also a lot of games were heavily gimped on the hardware, especially ports

and imo motion controls arent good at all even on switch, except for the VR headsets, those are the only ones that got it right (ive tried vive n i have an oculus 2) n super accurate n the games are all purpose built for it

i have a gaming vollection from snes to today with most consoles besides the saturn n genesis ( n current gen so far) n the Wii was always the most disappoint imo

but people either love it or hate & i cant knock those that do love it, it def has its charm

Remember being in college with my roommates when this dropped and how impossible it was to find one

Funny thing was when I finally got one just wasnt really my thing. I respect its popularity for sure though.

Mario Galaxy 2 was crazy, the Virtual Console? The Wii Shop Channel? Jeeeeeeez, got introduced to generations of video games that way

One thing I respect about Nintendo is even though their systems arent graphical powerhouses like the others, they always try to innovate and do something different like with the switch and Wii

Wii is so GOATED just off the fact of GameCube backwards compatibility
