Homicide rates higher than they've ever been in Chicago and the US as a whole.
Chicago:
heyjackass.com/2021-homicide-trend
17,000 killed by guns so far this year in USA by guns, that's literally insane.
272 mass shootings already too, that's around 2 a day and way up on (sometimes double) the TOTAL mass shootings from past years.
These rappers use gun violence to further their brand, to increase their level of fame and their net worth.
Glorification of gun violence by rappers is making the situation worse.
They think it's cool to rap about killing but when Pop Smoke got killed was that cool?? There is no reason to glorify this s***, they say it's how they live but does that mean they need to act like it's the best way to live??
Kanye should speak out on this.
It has become a part of daily life in the US, if there was 1 mass shooting in 95% of countries it would dominate the press for a month.
And I'm from the murder capital where they murder for capital
Heard about at least three killings this afternoon
Looking at the news like, "Damn I was just with him after school"
No shop class but half the school got a tool
And a "I could die any day"-type attitude
Plus his little brother got shot reppin' his avenue
It's time for us to stop and redefine black power
Forty one souls murdered in fifty hours
How can you all list examples from 2013 and earlier?? How can you act like enough is being done?? As someone looking from the outside the fact 17000 people have died this year by being shot is f***ing crazy.
i think we as a society need to stop looking at celebs to be voices for social justice movements. a lot of these people are simply not equipped / well educated enough to speak about these matters.
kanye especially, is not.
on one hand, its nice to see athletes/entertainers/whoever, get the word out about movements and bring awareness to tings that we need to have serious discussions about
but on the other hand its very easy for these movements to become co-opted bc its "trendy", whether its postin a blaack square on your ig page or going to post-george floying racial justice protests, a lot of people are more about appearing woke / appeasing that aesthetic than actually caring about hte movements themselves
i'd rather you not talk about it if you dont actually know about. its ok to stay quiet on certain tings, not everybody needs to speak on everything
kanye def a supporter of the second amendment
Anyone who thinks the 2nd amendment is relevant today when they were talking about muskets and swords, is an idiot.
