Whenever the topic of the next generation of superstars is mentioned on here, NBA Youngboy is always mentioned.

And when you look at his career so far, it shows his potential:

    • 2 #1 projects in the span of a year

    • Multiple platinum & gold street hits

    • Has been featured on projects by high-profile rappers

    • He is loved by suburban & non-suburban rap audiences

    • Every song he drops always trends on Youtube.

You would think a rapper like that would have multiple top 10 hits by now, but the labels refuse to push him farther and the media barely talks about him unless he's in a beef with someone bigger than him.

One possibility could be his street beefs and labels not seeing him as marketable.

Another possibility could be him oversaturating his music and basically dropping a song every week.

So the question is; Will NBA YB become a huge superstar or will he peak at the level he's at now and fall from there?

He would have hits if he took his time on his music instead of churning out a mixtape every few months. Make No Sense and Lil Top were beginning to blow up and then he turned around and dropped another tape

There’s nothing about NBA young boy that makes him a generational artist.

I agree, he could've had a huge Tik Tok hit with the memes made about him on there.

nah. burbs don't really like him and the internet loves to s*** on him. he gotta grow as a person before he can get mainstream. but he's got time, he's only like 20-21

There’s nothing about NBA young boy that makes him a generational artist.

Except for his massive support from an entire generation of hip hop listeners

  • Jul 7, 2020

No. I don’t ever see him softing his image up for it. He doesn’t even need to at this point tho. He has crazy impact within the streets and does great numbers

  • Jul 7, 2020

    He’s fine where he’s at

  • Jul 7, 2020

he'd have to compromise his sound/image a little bit to get that mainstream attention. He could be like Gucci though. For like 5-10 years Gucci had a mostly street following before he transitioned into mainstream and fixed his image.

YB is young as hell, if he can stay out of trouble he'll find himself in the mainstream

Thanks bro now imma have nightmares

  • Jul 7, 2020

I feel like he's a favorite of the young people but idk any old heads that listen to him at all. can't be a mainstream super star unless you appeal to everybody

Maybe not the whole suburban audience but he does have white fans.

And if he can mature as an artist & a person he can become a bigger star.

This is his biggest barrier. However I could see him having a similar career trajectory to Meeks. Grinds for years getting a lot of support from the masses as a street rapper, and then later on when he’s older gets more accepted by the industry and is a solid tier 2 rapper for a decade

He really just needs to get under the wing of someone like Ross the way Meek did. Someone who is business minded and focused on the bigger picture. Yeah he’s got Atlantic money but I don’t think the people directly around him really know what they’re doing. Hopefully as he matures he starts to see this, there’s just too much talent there. Don’t forget he’s super young, he has time to figure things out still

Having support from a bunch of hs kids from America doesn’t make you a rap superstar

NBA is hardly famous outside of America. Rappers like Pop smoke are bigger than him in Europe. Not only that but he doesn’t have the talent to even be mentioned in that category. He’s nothing more than a fast food rapper who kids have latched on to bc they don’t know what an actual rap superstar looks like

Ok but Europe’s opinion on rap doesn’t matter lol

And US high school kids (which his fanbase isn’t even limited to but keep pushing that narrative) are a pretty powerful demographic
