Albums today can't just be great on their own, it has to be constantly compared to something.
Na cause it has more than 1 good song
LMAOOOOO
you know you wrong, but I'm f***ing dead
What are you trying to say? No classics in our generation? Because that would be a very headass thing to say
It's when you need constant reassurance and validation to justify your liking of said album is headassery at its finest.
"IS DAYTONA GOING TO BE LOOKED AT AS OUR ONLY BUILT 4 CUBAN LINX..?"
Despite Pusha saying that, we don't (I hope) look at DAYTONA as his version of Purple Tape, it stands well on its own.
I don't need constant validation and peer review to justify why I like this album.

No wonder Jay Electronica isn't dropping, we wouldn't even appreciate it as much as we think we would.

Jay electronica isn't dropping because he's on coke
Buzzkillington over here
You're upset because I disrupted your echo chamber of parroting the same sentiment as your friends on here. It is going to be okay I promise, you can still enjoy To Pimp a Butterfly for what it is.

Mr. Farrakhan put a stop to that.
Y’all white kids really love this album for some reason
GKMC>>>

Having a dissenting opinion does not make one a hater, when will you guys understand this?

I know but you keep typing in that aristocratic tone, its a bit off putting

I'll take that, my apologies.
gkmc is the better comparison. Idek what to compare tpab to, its a very unique rap album especially for this era
TPAB will definitely be seen as this decade's Illmatic whether it should be or not. It feels like it's already been put in that context for the last 5 years since the year it came out and that narrative will continue.
Tbh, I think they're both about equal but I'd probably put MBDTF above them
GKMC is closer to illmatic Imo, especially for its main theme. I'd say TPAB is more like a mix of me against the world, straight outta Compton with some late registration and things fall apart on it. But really TPAB is a thing of its own
I just thought people meant to get the praise/consensus that Illmatic got
GKMC definitely more similar tho if that's what people are going on. TPAB, even tho he's different in style as a MC, feels like the most 80s he's sounded too when you think about MCs like Chuck D
