That’s funny cause actual rap fans who have been fans of the genre for years have cited Tyler as being one of the best right now but continue to lie lmfao nobody actually thinks Youngboy is a top tier rapper at all. You saying RYM and this and that just tells me you have an agenda to push. I’m done giving you the time of day, god

If this was true DJ Khaleds words wouldve have hurt him so much and he wouldnt be going so hard for approval from the black community.

The whole Louisiana scene and the producer incorporate that type of jazz in their beats with the loops they use. If you were a real music fan you would know what im talking about

I guarantee you there are more rap fans who have YB as their favorite rapper than have Tyler as theirs. Tylers core fanbase doesnt even like or understand rap fr

Wolf got some s*** on it and this doesn’t apply to the whole album but Domo23 came on the other day and yo that song was some ass looking back

All of those attempts at bangers he was doing back then were dogwater

Neither does YBs lmfao and ironically I bet Tyler’s fanbase actually went back and checked for the artists he’s influenced by. Yb fans only started listening to rap in 2017

I didnt see youngboys fans complaining about DJ Drama on his tape or ignorantly proclaiming he had the greatest gangsta grill tape ever like Tylers. Its almost as if DJ hosted albums and tapes are nothing new to YB fans yet it was a totally new concept to Tylers.

Donda is better sonically and conceptually than CMIYGL.

Unlike JIK, Kanye execuated the Christian and personal themes in Donda very well and the production was a rich blend of TLOP, Yeezus, and "the Old Kanye."

Most long albums are generally mid af but Donda is relatively consistent in that regard despite having a few misses. That's impressive no matter which way you dice it.

CMIYGL was obviously a much more cohesive album with none of Donda's lows and is probably a slightly better album overall.

But it honestly feels like a slight downgrade from his Flower Boy and Igor run. I can't explain it but CMIYGL almost feels "safe" for Tyler which is why the comments about Kanye playing it "safe" for Donda seem like a pot and kettle sort of claim.

    Hope it is

    Really enjoyed his last project

Bruh already done a lot in his career and shows no signs of slowing down. He’s been on a run. 4 great projects in a row is a huge feat in this game. All self produced too. Convos about his legacy gotta change after that 🤷🏾‍♂️

And I’m always interested in his art direction. When it comes to visual arts Tyler always snaps. His rollouts get me hype like releases back when I was younger

hope its an improvement, CMIYGL was cool but i liked IGOR/flower boy/cherry bomb more

Impacting the culture has nothing to do with popularity or sales.

When Pop smoke was alive he wasnt a hot seller or anything like that but you felt his music, you felt his presence.

You said Tyler is the top hip hop artist from 2017-now. How tf can he be that when his music aint even touching the culture like that? Why do you think he dropped that gangsta grillz tape that most of his fans didnt even understand

Funny enough I’m at the dvsn concert right now and they’re playing Sweet by Tyler right now in the opening playlist before dvsn comes out

  • Feb 27, 2023

Hope he doubles down on the rap s***

    • Says rap fans love tyler

    • uses an RNB concert for a niche indy act as proof

I won’t be able to tell — considering I most definitely will not be listening!

I have severely outgrown Tyler’s gimmick of cycling between “flowers, bumblebees” to “I MAKE REAL HIP HOP!” s***e each time he decides to drop some mid, along with the fact that his raps are generally just annoying as all get out.

    Keep that!

  • Still think he has another level to go personally. I expect it to be more ambitious than Call Me, which I liked.

While that's certainly true, there's no denying that was originally Tyler's intention. Wasn't there an interview where he said he was really just doing rap to break out into the jazz/fusion scene?

I'm not sure about him having said that specifially, but he's said he's always preferred making non-rap music. The Stevie Wonders/Roy Ayers/Leon Wares of the world are what his style is rooted from. If Tyler could sing at all i'd say there'd be a chance, but he literally will have to rap at some point on a Tyler album. Him doing a fully instrumental album doesn't make any sense in my mind. He's done the Cherry Bomb instrumentals drop, the Louis Vuitton instrumental tracks, etc. I think that's the extent of what we'd get from him in that realm.

  • I don’t know, I haven’t heard it yet.

I imagine he’s gonna score more too, already got the resume with the Grinch (wasn’t bad but he can find something that fits him better)

That’ll be the closest we get to instrumental album imo
