People don’t love music like that anymore for something like this to take off imo
how can you measure that?
In today’s age music is so accessible and SM spreads so much music that the interest is obviously there.
that's a good idea
an app where the only thing you post is the song you are listening. basically the thread "what are you listening" as an app 🤔
The number of people that care about what you listen to is very small. Friend Activity is a good feature on Spotify but it’s just a feature, not much of a product beyond that
the app AirBuds connects to ur Spotify or Apple Music and just shares every song you listen to into a feed to show to your friends on there

Fr tho we’re living in the most vibrant era of personal consumption too
yea i actually do think this will happen at least on a semi niche level like BeReal. biggest issue on getting it to take off is do ppl care beyond a insta story? cause if they do not, then the app prolly will struggle

Think there’s some incentive if you can easily pocket songs that others are listening to. A direct link to DSPs would be tremendous

sorry for the shill but musicplace will have that too... I'm so excited :)

The vast majority of ppl online don’t realize that the vast majority of music consumers do it passively and casually
So I kind of agree with this
I'm working on this right now. https://musicplace.app/
Launching late jan early feb
Available in Europe?

Most music consumers nowadays are very casual, why would they download another social media app for this when they can just post it on their story

OP is just describing Reddit but your point is crazy. Indieheads got 1,000 people online rn and that's not even the main indie sub

The people posting on indieheads isn’t your average music consumer.
@op you may be interested in the Geneva app. No one is going to spoon-feed you community anymore; you'll have to work for it. I'm in a great Pop group in Geneva; it's exactly what you describe
Also BReal is the most horseshit, fake, unnatural app OAT

What does average consumer have to do with it? It's a demographic thing. Young music lovers on TikTok will flock to a dating app based on music if you brand it correctly lol
apple music had the potential when it was first coming out, but i think it’s kinda chopped for that now given that ppl are really settled into spotify
idk why apple won’t give am a more nuanced social tab, it would be sick. the ui gives profiles the opportunity to be unique and express themselves in their playlists
some ppl take advantage of it like @americana but it’s much harder for those playlists to get traction compared to spotify users, it kinda sucks
but i guess it’s bc u can stream spotify playlists on shuffle for free. so a paid for social media built around music could get elitist claims p quickly, esp considering how wide spotify userbase is with the free tier

Well if you want the app to be successful you’ll need the general public to support it, unless OP is just talking about a niche app but I was assuming he was talking about an app that’s on the scale of Twitter/IG.

the relationship has changed, absolutely
but to say the love is gone is absurd lol you don’t even have to go far from ur own threads to see that you and millions of others are still in love with the music

Oooh my bad. I thought he was talking like... floating around 10-25 on the Social Networking app list. Like Letterboxd
My fault !
Been waiting on this for years. Apple should’ve been integrated this into their service
Available in Europe?
starting off in the US first, but plans to expand outward shortly thereafter.
