Remember when everybody wanted a Lex Luger beat, or Mike Will Made It, or Metro Boomin?

It feels like we haven’t had another producer the hip hop world is unanimously excited about in years. Hit Boy is putting in WORK these days, but it doesn’t feel like he’s taking over radio or defining the sound of 2020/2021.

And even then, none of the big name producers like 5 years back feel like household names anymore. It feels like if a producer isn’t doing one of those “fully produced by…” projects, their hype kind of just fades.

He’s definitely in demand right now, but yeah, I don’t think it’s anywhere near as universal as the bigger names of the past when they were first getting hyped.

it's simple to run up streaming numbers though

and that is to copy what is catchy for dances. no matter the quality of the production

so no more superstar producers
