Black pop music is still Black music but in the modern day it isn’t acknowledged as such and that’s f***ed up

we see artists like The Weeknd overlooked in pop categories at the Grammies while overseas labrinth is shelved for years bc he doesn’t fit the mold people wanted for a Black singer

Pop has Black art in its dna just like all these other genres but the industry goes out of its way to whitewash it to the point that y’all look at a pop Black artist sideways

tbf nobody questions Flo Rida or Wiz Khalifa's blackness yet they sold out just as hard in the late 2000s early 2010s like the Black Eyed Peas.

Black people are only celebrated when we commodity our blackness but everyone cause be successful as anything.
