Reformedsales are irrelevant and the only reason anybody started to give a s*** about sales is because of Drake being the first significant rapper in history to routinely get mediocre reviews and reception from music fans despite selling big numbers.
Giving an award for sales is laughable and furthers the sales= quality argument in a very harmful way.

I literally grew up in the Lil Wayne era lmao. Again, he dominated in sales, but he consistently got good reviews as well. At that time, the most popular social media was probably YouTube and he got s*** on at that time. The whole sales = quality nonsense started with Drake. Before him, most people argued the opposite.

You can win those awards like candy if you're quality enough, but not every journalist and certainly very very very few musicians will ever have a shot like Kendrick did, especially being the first in his genre to win
