true but we all know Drake absolutely adores touring, the last tour was 3 years ago now. Everyone else is touring but Drake hasn't announced anything. There's gotta be a reason for that

I don’t know how it’s not obvious to everyone at this point, Drake no longer had the creativity to redo CLB from leaking last year (DEMO TAPES)

First he said last summer even after Dark Lanes. The he said January. Then he didn’t say anything. Then he randomly drops it in September??

Yeah, he was tired of the album and couldn’t create anything else. Threw 8 fillers on it (including songs that have been leaked for a year) bought a future and 21 song and called it an album. The leaks killed his vision.

Dark Lane + 5 songs from here and he would’ve had a classic. Instead this album is right there with Thank Me Later and Scorpion.

The silence that’s gone on this long is regards to tour and any press of merch?? That has to mean they are just leaving this where it is and dropping something else soon. Otherwise I’m kind confused. Not even any videos after Way 2 Sexy and that horrific Knife Talk video

I think if he dropped what was supposedly the OG CLB with LNCL etc, I think we would’ve seen a vastly different rollout.

Everything that factored into the delay and shelving of whatever the initial album was supposed to sound like definitely (in my opinion) made him just want to drop it and move on.

Yeah this felt like it became more of a playlist then the highly anticipated album he was supposed to drop.

Forget the album content… the flows of his albums were just much better than this. Even scorpion low key…

Was it that much that it really needed to be shelved without reworking a few of the tracks?

Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy all the songs individually, all have their own vibe but there’s no flow flow to it. I’m not saying it’s a terrible or mid album, it’s not (imo), but probably not what we were supposed to get.

I think the most annoying thing is the lack of an interview.

I guess to be fair tho, there’s not much else to say at this point he’s already spoken on every controversy he’s been in.

I maintain that between LEAK2020, DLDT, SH2 and CLB that there is a classic project that could be sequenced, but not very much of it comes from CLB lol

First major release after being "independent".

I think he did almost nothing to benchmark a release with the bare minimum to see how much budget he saves.

Only 1 big budget video. Knife talk is done super low budget.

This was him feeling out how good a Drake album does without the big label push.

I hope he drops a project this year of stuff he already has tucked away.

Man, I always wonder what these projects like Views, Scorpion, CLB would’ve sounded like without the beefs, or the injury/COVID issues which affected them. CLB especially after the leaks we had over the past year and a bit + LNCL.

I love CLB for what it is but after couple months it doesn’t stack up to TC/NWTS (for me) in terms of a coherent sound/mood.

I think we definitely get another project in some form before a tour happens. Another mixtape, WAT2BA, something

I actually think drake has some of his biggest moments on scorpion in individual tracks, but as a whole project again didn’t have a flow or sequence. It had more so than CLB tho. This is the first album where after 3 months I can find myself going back to it.

As much as views gets s*** on, it was an Album full of new music that pushed the sound, and had a sequence, flow, unique melodies, and a story (the seasons of Toronto). He used live instruments, he pulled from diff cultures and he took risks to reinvent himself.

It feels to me he got lost or sucked into the lil baby era and forgot that he was the one who pushes the sound forward. He’s not supposed to be just good, he’s supposed to be the one who’s always ahead. But once you’ve been doing it for so long maybe that fire just isn’t there any more to keep pushing
