The ManJust last year we had Japanese Breakfast dominate end of the year lists with the release of her classic album, “jubilee.” We also had snail mail, Claud(non binary), jazmine Sullivan, Mariah the scientist, st. Vincent, waxahatchee and many other women release well received albums.
The year prior we had phoebe Bridgers, Taylor swift, Fiona apple, soccer mommy, dua lipa, etc all release really good albums and not to mention fka twigs and lana in 2019 as well.
So far this year we have had women led bands like big thief and beach house release two great albums . We have also had soccer mommy with a breakout single and even newcomers wet leg and lesser known artists like Nilufer Yanya release well received music too. Then ofc we have arcade fire coming out with what will surely be an aoty contender and vocally they are a husband and wife duo.
It just seems like men are lagging behind, releasing way too much mid music and not keeping up with their female contemporaries. This is not a bad thing however, as men dominated music for quite a long time, I’m glad to see more women taking the lead in this industry.

Its not a competition. Cheers to the women for really dropping some amazing projects. Glad they're getting their flowers and empowering the youth.
