lol thats not what he said at all paraphrasiing the s*** out of bro
It hinges on Matt’s decision. That’s been the case since he was hired for The Batman which is why he’s not been attached to universes through 3 eras of DC film leadership now. Matt at best works closely with WB and alongside DC Studios, not under DC
Andy is at Gunns mercy who hired him for the spot
Confirmation that Matt Reeves answers to Gunn and Safran and not WB execs.
ABDY: We’re not in the weeds on the Batman stuff. It’s really James and Peter Safran who run DC. We have a bit of other collaboration with Matt Reeves, but Peter and James know he is a writer-directing auteur in his own right, and that it will come when he’s written his best Batman script and is ready.

I disagree she said that at all. Abdy and De Luca are on the hot seat and are very very careful with what they say. I'd argue she intentionally phrased it in line with my argument, but just in a media trained way.
First, she distanced herself from answering the question which was a good move. Then she said it's DC Studios film (true) which Peter and James run (also true).
Finally, she intentionally spoke for Peter and Gunn by effectively saying Matt does what he wants as a "writer-directing auteur." She reiterated it'll come when he's ready. James and Peter couldn't change this rn if they wanted to which was my point. Matt's not only writer-director but also lead producer in collaboration with his own company. Peter and Gunn don't have credits on this film like a Feige does for all MCU products
Like i get what yall are trying to say but the only evidence that will move me is if these guys can make decisions that override Reeves. I've held my argument since summer 2017 when Reeves slipped Batman wasn't DCEU. I've always read this whole "we give Matt space to create" as "we cannot do anything." Hamada used to do this as well, cus none of them can interfere

So now you’re implying Reeves answers to no one and no one can override his ideas?

You should refresh yourself on our prior discussion we had about this months ago that you replied to me from. I already made these points to you months ago.
After that post you replied to I said, "No one's coming in and making him do XYZ" which is what i mean here with "overriding," I'm not trying to slight DC Studios leadership. It's just a wider point that Matt was granted keys to a flagship franchise that multiple DC leaderships now can't interfere on. This was an intentional move
He's also allowed to directly hire talent to produce side-projects in that mini-verse and then has the same top production credit on Batman-related DCU projects he produces alongside Gunn/Safran. What about this is a traditional boss-subordinate situation? They all just work together and coordinate. Matt does Batman and they do wider DC
Matt doesn't literally work at WB or DC. He's structured this deal to work out of 6th & Idaho offices and collaborates with WB/DC.
They oversee the film cus it falls under their studio. But that doesn't mean they have actual control over it. Matt originally wasn't going to sign on without creative freedom, got it, then got a bigger long-term WB deal when Abdy/De Luca joined.
“I have such respect for Kevin Feige and also for the Marvel filmmakers,” he says. “But to be honest with you, I just don’t know how I would make my way through that. There has to be some level of discovery for me, where I have some freedom to find my way.....You’re not going to get a good movie from me if you don’t let me do what I do, because I don’t know how to do it another way. And so: ‘Please, if you don’t like what I’m saying, do not hire me.’ And that so far has worked for me.”
I live for Harrison Ford's dry humor
Will Poulter is in talks to play Adam Strange in DC Studios’ developing universe under James Gunn and Peter Safran, with the character set to lead a series for Max.
If Poulter signs on, the plan is for Adam Strange to debut in another DCU project before headlining his own series, which is currently in the early stages of assembling a writers’ room. Several writers are circling the project, which is based on a basic story bible by Tom King and James Gunn, including Baran bo Odar, Christopher Yost, Beau Willimon, and Mark Protosevich.
