I kinda get why people are seeing it that way, but “invited to stay” is such a loaded phrase.
This is all different than Casey Bloys’ situation, who actually seemingly got a promotion being head of both HBO Max and Paramount+ now. A Paramount+ exec left in this case for the WB guy to take over.
Like is this invite on the same terms? Is it only because Gunn is actively tied to WB/DCs only 2027 film release? Do they throw full weight behind them as we hope?
it literally says above "at least initally"
I dont understand celebrating when it just means he wont be immediately removed which very few thought was the case. what gunn has announced has to do well and even then Ellisons dont really align idea wise with what he is making so we will see if they are for creative freedom? Me I dont persnally care.
Same as Avi Arad. Eventually have to trade in a love of superheroes that I have had since a child when the people profiting from it use their money to support the killing of children and ICE. I can illegally download and watch the s***s at home. They arent even worth the quality of seeing in theaters. Spider Man, The Batman 2 its a fun sense of inclusion but its not necessarily something I feel the need to see anymore.

People aren’t seeing that because most DC (and other) pages are cutting it out of the direct quote for their posts. And it’s paywalled so the average reader can’t directly verify. The first post in this thread about it intentionally cut it lol
I said all of my concerns on the last page without even knowing that was a part of the direct quote until I saw someone else pull from the article:
"I’m told Gunn and Safran will be invited to stay on at DC Studios, at least initially"
Being invited to stay by someone so reprehensible isnt a big win here buddy
They’re gonna keep them dumb f***

I dont blindly trust the Ellisons. If you do thats great. I hope they keep them but either way I will not be there to support the Ellisons in any form.
How did we go from "this merger will be the end of film and artistic freedom" to "well at least we still get our superhero movies"? Look at the Paramount Warner brothers thread day 1 til now. Meanwhile I still hope this deal some how falls through.
Gunn and Safran staying or not doesn't remedy the problems of what this means for art.

Imagine thinking DC fans can read if there isnt enough pictures.
No one in this thread not even @KnightmareLeague thought the merger would clear and immediately fire gunn and safran. They have multiple announced projects to fiinish to make the company money. How those projects do determine the future. Will Ellisons possibly keep them to save on rebooting? Yes. Is it guaranteed ? No. Because going forward Ellisons want to control the content and the art . They have OPENLY said so if you read their interviews and reactions. Which is why many of us were wary of the deal in the first place. The deal was about infinitely more than just art. This also includes skydance owning the gaming side as well. Got friends at Netherrealm very not thrilled.
The centering of fans solely on the creation of more superhero movies and not how detrimental this is to tv film and gaming says a lot.
boycotting twitter cause of Elon only for DC to be bought by Ellison is kind of funny on a dark level
I don't think gunn is leaving anytime soon. Even them initially keeping him on and the heavy usage of superman in that reel is a pretty good indicator of such. But you really can't tell even if MOT is a hit/flop. Ellisons kinda do what they want lol

They use Nolan work for majority of teaser and there is 0% chance he comes back .

Yeah but Nolan is already gone and they know his works are big draws. If they wanted gunn gone I just dont see them using him prominently in the reel but who knows
Must be for the person taking over the DCU next to direct!
I know he's running DC but part of me wants to see him do something outside the superhero genre
Even if it's like a low budget thing that he could shoot in a month
