Erica Durance was such a great Lois
She's my favorite Lois AND i liked her more than Lana
Idk how true this is but they’re saying Cavill was actually fired from Witcher cause of his gaming addiction and gamer bro personality lmao

1. He's already blade in mcu
2. He's too old for the new dcu
To be fair on 2. Martian man Hunter age doesn’t matter and he can be whoever
I’m not entirely convinced that Pattinson won’t be the DCU’s Batman. Gunn canceled Wonder Woman 3, Man of Steel 2, and Black Adam 2 because they didn’t fit into his vision, so why would he allow an entire Batman universe to continue unless he had some plan for that version of the character?

When you separate the mindless aversion fans have to including Pattinson in the DCU, it’s the only thing that makes sense. There’s no way a new and younger DCU is kicked off rn without Batman and there’s no way that Batman isn’t Pattinson
Reeves’s Batman universe is very grounded in reality though, same as Nolan’s trilogy was. It’ll be very hard to then insert Pattinson’s Batman next to the rest of the DC lineup.
Gunn’s Batman would have to be more mystical and fantasy like certain iterations of the character in the comics are
Eh Reeves can introduce more fantasy like elements throughout the trilogy. Plus the contrast just makes it more interesting from a cinematic universe standpoint

Yeah it’s really not a hurdle to get over
I need to see Clay face in a movie man

CLAYFACE IS COMING TALK TO HIM
CLAYFACE IS COMING TALK TO HIM
Speaking of Clayface; following the theme of overcoming vengeance in order to become a symbol of hope, I can easily see a theme of “wearing different faces” between Bruce starting to tap into that PR friendly Bruce Wayne role and Clayface’s condition. One is on the light side of that and the other is a dark mirror. Maybe throw in some thematic stuff about your inner monster and whatnot too

s*** Clayface I thought was going to be the Mayor after the Mayor died from light or something. Clayface just opens up possibility for a lot. I don't want the obvious of "clayface becomes batman and makes batman look evil". I just like the potential of Clayface and going more than just realistic story

Yeah that would be a disservice to the innate complexity of such a character. Besides TAS is an amazing blueprint on how to adapt that character thematically and narratively. There’s a lot of potential with Clayface on all fronts of the film medium to make something wildly entertaining and poignant. Also could be an all time classic CGI character on some Gollum and Thanos s***

It definitely has to be a practical blend its gonna be tough
having second thoughts about Gunn and DC. i both worry and slightly am relieved that there is a chance gunn just copies the script from Disney and gives all the movies that same feel that the entire mcu has. on one hand DC will start making competing content, but on the other hand it will all feel the same.

what makes you come to that conclusion?
by all accounts, James Gunn is a better writer/director/artist than Zack Snyder was for these type of superhero films.
he has a proven track record of making superhero films that do well in the box office, are well written (for the most part) and also work well with the critics.
i think at this point DC couldn't have hired a better person for this role tbh.

he hasn’t directed anything remotely serious in tone. and i like the change of pace serious tone of superhero movies such as logan, batman, and snyder justice league. not saying i exclusively like these, it’s just that none of them belong to mainline MCU. and i understand he’s not directing all the movies, but he will have a hand in putting it all together. with this in mind, there is the possibility that he makes all of the DCU films half serious half silly like most marvel movies are because he knows that’s the recipe for box office success, which is what he essentially was brought in for

sure he hasn't directed anything out and out serious in tone but most of his work has serious/earnest/emotional undertones - from Guardians to Peacemaker. that makes me believe he is capable of navigating those waters.
also keep in mind that the doom and gloom/edgy does not work for every character. most audiences were not on board with a brooding Superman for example.
im expecting dcu to be better than mcu because it seems james gunn has way more creative control over it compared to disney boardrooms overseeing the slate n scripts
but im still scared it will be like mcu where it never feels like theres real stakes and misplaced whedon type jokes that break tension in serious moments
but the best case scenario i can see is gunn giving us an array of different vibes thru each phase of the dc slate going forward
so we prolly get like a mcu tier lighthearted superman movie with unfunny jokes
but we get a gareth evans deathstroke movie same year
gunn better drop the most fire slate of all time next month or its make the batfleck movie til i die
