RIP
This happening isn’t really killing theaters because of the circumstances
What’s really killing theaters is the deals Universal have made with AMC and Cinemark

yeah read about that but this move isn’t helping either. Mainstream cinema was already going to s*** but streaming will make it even worse.
There’s no way theatres will be open by December.
Then HBO Max if they have it in your countries or torrent.
I downloaded The Witches back when it was released.

Whoever likes going to the movies will still go after the panoramic. This is only good for the people who like watching movies at home.
Soul and this both on streaming on christmas, one of those is bound to be good
I’m pretty both will be great

Think most movie goers are already comfortable with watching new films at home. I can’t see theaters surviving with this pandemic.
People barely showed up for Tenet.
My parting gift from being a manager at AMC last year was a Wonder Woman 84 poster with the original June release date
How much will this s*** be worth
Time to risk it

I’ve been saying for years that theaters will eventually only exist for large event films like an Avengers or Batman
This pandemic just accelerated it

HBO Max is only in America.

with studios like Disney buying up all the auditoriums and pushing indie-mid tier films out it was inevitable.
Tarantino complained about this years ago and Scorsese also addressed it only to get crucified by movie goers.
I will be devastated if theaters don't survive the pandemic
I absolutely love going to theaters to see comic book films
Glad we can finally just watch new releases at home instead of having to hear cringe niggas scream in the theater

Just films in general
You mean where things are getting pretty bad with wave 2?
And Christmas is coming, if they let people do whatever they want, wave 3 bout to be the worst.
And that's if we get rid of wave 2 first.
Yes europe where the cinemas just opened again

It got so bad that even other blockbuster franchises couldn’t compete. I remember I couldn’t find a local showing of Halloween because of Avengers DURING the month of October
so this is on HBO max for the first 30 days only
First 30 days: Theatrical (Theaters get 55-60%) + HBOMAX
Day 31-60: Theatrical only
Day 61+: PVOD
Yes europe where the cinemas just opened again
What about the lockdowns and home confinements?
What about the lockdowns and home confinements?
idk about other european countries but the netherlands has never had an actual lockdown
the cinemas also have only been closed from in april/may and in nov for the first 2 weeks

Well. Some other countries are heading another home confinement.
Here cinemas are still open, but without big releases most people don't go. They also at 50% capacity max.
And we have a lockdown from 10pm to 6am. And you can't go to another region unless it's because of work.

here the cinemas are like at 30 people max capacity i think
but i mean its better than nothing imo yk
i also went to the cinema alot in june/july and it honestly felt safer than any other public place i went to

blockbusters will be made cheaper if the theater dies. Film in general will look differently and with streaming there will be even less consistency than there already was.
