"oh no we don't worship satan, we just devote ourselves to preach and practice what he stands for... you know as a metaphor" "Yeah we know what real satanism is, but this isn't that its just got the same name" Obviously theyre going to advertise it as some edgy satire or whatever to attract more visitors

You cannot isolate the study of satanism from the lessons of the Satan temple, or the figure/entity it is named after. It is called Satanism for a reason, and it is no coincidence that they are an atheistic group.

Your goalpost has moved from “why not” To “it’s just edgy Reddit kids lol” to “okay well even if it is serious they can study what they want.” It feels like you’re in denial about the true nature of it. I guess there really isn’t anything more to discuss here

And the bottom line is there is no rebuttal to what I’m saying aside from “b-but the principals are good!” — and here’s my thing, man. If you can choose to live your life in accordance with any governing body of laws, religious or otherwise that you choose… why would pick the ones that embodies the enemy of all living things. Let’s just forgo the God part for a second.

You are idolizing the literal or metaphorical entity of Satan, the father of deception and illness, who’s only achievement in source material he debuts in, is tricking humanity and robbing us of peace. To buy into these principals of satanism and conveniently ignore his offenses before it is just foolishness. You are idolizing the master of trickery. Whether or not you believe in God is irrelevant; you are being enticed by the story of the father of evil from the source material, exempting him of his crimes, and worshipping him.

Even isolation from religion and such concepts is better than this. I’ve got little quarrel with those actual principals except that by prerequisite, you cannot classify as a satanist without the denial of god. Which is… again… no coincidence. You cannot have two masters. You don’t have to believe in god to realize how pants-on-head ed the idea of worshipping this guy is. Its insanity.

None of this about "worship", "idolizing", or "deifying" anything. Its about a safe-place for kids to spend time after school away from religion if desired.
