    to yall.

Not to his fanbase and to the fans that he has on this site.

The crowd that don't really f*** with hip hop (tyler's fanbase) that will come to YB from his wusyaname verse, are not the fans that YB gives a f*** about supplying in the first place

This thread isn't about his fans lol. His fans already know his skill

It's about OP making an observation based on change in production

modern trap beats are not always fast though?

and polo g and lil baby do just fine over that. Hell, Eminem does great over fast trap beats.

That's why I said usually. Trap beats are usually faster than boom bap beats on the average. So either ur not gonna have space to say much or u gotta rap a lot faster

    Actually not true

Old boom bap beats were like anywhere from 80 - 100bpm

Most modern beats are like 140bpm but it’s in half time so it’s actually like 70bpm

They just seem faster cause the speed of the percussion (the hi hats usually)

I mean old boom bap beats stretch from bpm of 50 to 100

But I see ur point bout half time for modern beats

How was my statement uninformed when it's literally been said for decades

Boom bap beats are stripped down so you can focus on the lyrics

Trap beats today or what ppl consider trap beats has alot more volume therefore not giving as much to seem like you really getting off lyrically.

Listen to Ross on trap beats and on Kanye West production

Lol. There isna reason why his best verses are all considered to be on beats that aren't trap sounding beats lol.

    All?

damn, I guess BMF and John just didn't exist.

No one says those are his best lyrical efforts and you know it.

If ppl questions Ross pen you aren't throwing on BMF

You are putting on a devil in a new dress or lord knows and there is a reason why.

Problem is these people don’t listen to YB the generic beats just a cop out. YB picks a lot of the same sounding beats but they don’t sound much like what most rappers pick.

Dababy does the same but his beats don’t sound like YBs

Gunna does the same but his beats don’t sound like theirs.

So to me saying “generic trapbeats” just a cop out.

Also an artist like Yb the vocals and yes lyrics(if u actually listen) are way more important than the beats. The rate he records he probably raps on any beat that’s pulled up.

This is true although I will argue all those artists beats use a similar type of drums which is usually why it’s labeled as trap (the production style)

For me I just like when artists use beats that don’t sound like what you’d normally expect from them

I think people write off yb because they’ve heard some of his popular stuff and it all sounds similar and assume most of all sounds like that (which it usually does)

Same case for someone like westwide gunn. When a new westside gunn project drops I’m assuming most people don’t expect there to be Pierre Bourne or Wheezy type beats on it but I’m sure if there was people would be interested to hear what that sounds like

I don’t think the problem are the “trap beats” that’s just the label they get.

The problem is people want every artist to be super innovative at any cost even if the artist don’t like the music their self.

Most artist in most genres just operate in their comfort zone and most casual fans accept that.

If every artist tried to go the super duper innovative route then the few we get every decade wouldn’t be that special.

I guess I just accept most artist will stay in their lanes. I don’t expect trailblazers to come around that often.

It’s funny because they know that too and still try to diminish these people talent because they not “experimental” or doing some weird s*** with they music

It’s weird because I’m that type of way my fav artist all time are experimental (3k Thug Kanye Prince)

But it’s easy to tell artist like that personality match the experimental nature of their music.

This sites wants cool hood dudes to scream over techno beats just to satisfy them and lose money/fans in the process of doing it. Just unrealistic.
