Xbox has all these IPs, a great subscription service, unlimited resources and they’re basically saying “fuck it” instead of putting in the work for long term success. They’re basically waving the white flag as a hardware developer and using this to go completely subscription based/software. Bad day for the gaming community.

Bro no one gives a f*** about xbox first partys. This coming from a former big fan in the 360 days its over. Halo, gears, forza no one gives a s*** bout em lol they past there prime not coming back

You’re an idiot. They just acquired two major studios in Bethesda and Activision that has a ton of IPs they can put their resources behind. They could legit make COD exclusive in time and shift the entire gaming industry at this point. I won’t even mention Elder Scrolls, Fallout, Crash, Diablo.

Yea f*** over the consumer by competing with Sony…

I’m sure when Sony is the only premium console on the market things will just be swell. They have complete control over all prices with no direct competitor after all. I’m SURE they will help out us lil consumers

The Year is 2028, Sony has released The Last Of Us Remastered collection featuring The Last of Us 1 & 2 Remastered for PS6 for $70.

We are watching Sony f*** over consumers in real time now that they have a little bit of a power trip, imagine with absolutely no competition. Man gaming is cooked

People are acting like Sony wasn’t the first to up the price of games to begin with. Raised to $70 for PS5 because what? Cus they knew those suckers had no choice but to buy them

Now they won’t even have Xbox to undercut them. It’s so over. $100 games by 2026 is booked

Starfield sold really well, RedFall was a flop, and GamePass has brown in subscribers. I don’t think their AAA releases have flopped in 2023, they have a lot of momentum right now, the problem is they expected those AAA releases to move console units like hotcakes, and that’s not something that’s going to happen short term.

Xbox is in prime position right now to keep dropping exclusives, building customer faith, growing GamePass amongst the current community and eventually the console sales will come (once again, think Sony with PS3 except Sony was wayyyy more desperate and bleeding financially). There is no excuse for Xbox to be pulling this Hail Mary move, they’re not hurting financially, PlayStation is in a huge lul content wise, Palworld is a gaming phenomenon right now and they have a hefty lineup planned for this year. This just seems like a bird brained decision from someone at the top that wants to rush the whole idea of actual gaming consoles are gonna be a thing of the past.

re: Game Pass growth and Starfield’s success
The executive director at the firm that tracks American gaming sales has said that subscription numbers on consoles & PC have stagnated:

Sure there was probably a tremendous spurt of new subs during Starfield’s launch, but I highly doubt those have been converted into active subs, especially not how Bethesda and Phil envisioned Starfield to do the heavy lifting in retaining subs (“Starfield was designed to be played for HOURS!!”).

Something’s NOT right with the execs if they truly believed that gamers would be content with experiencing repetitive and tedious gameplay elements (that “thousand planets” gimmick could have been seen from light-years away).

As for the other 2023 exclusives, I keep seeing people being frustrated with Forza Motorsport, that it’s a noticeable downgrade from previous installments.. (and Redfall is pretty self-explanatory lmao).

    Ps5 pro gonna be $600

    PS6 gonna be $700

Games gonna be $100 a pop

This is already reality in Canada

I don't think Halo will ever make it to a console besides Xbox

That is the core of the brand besides franchises like Gears

It's gonna be the end of an era, it basically means they forfeit the Console Wars to Sony

There’s a lot of things that factor into this, one of that being some of the most popular game annual releases are not apart of any of these subscription services (Madden, 2K, Call of Duty(yet)) and all of these games also have their own season pass models that players are more heavily invested in. The other live service games like Fortnite, Warzone, Apex, Diablo etc also have their own subscription services and season passes. Once again, this is a long game thing with Subs that’s not going to have dramatic increases over night and will have lul spaces.

Microsoft really shot themselves in the foot not making Call of Duty exclusive and incorporating it into their subscription service or at least having plans to down the line.

Also, PlayStation & Nintendo subscription services SUCK. PS Plus is bad, the price went up and they’re the two consoles with majority of the hardware market share.

COD really didn’t have a chance of being exclusive to Xbox cus that would’ve been grounds to put an end to the Activision Blizzard merger.

And personally speaking, COD has lost all relevance to me thanks to this one little game called THE FINALS. (Yes this is random af lmfao, but I’m currently so hooked on it )

The Finals is awesome. I can’t put it down when I have a FPS Multiplayer itch. I haven’t bought or owned a Call of Duty since MW2019 , but I can’t ignore that’s it’s consistently the top selling game every year lmao.
