Would be stupid to put the new COD on game pass
I would have like a multi year wait for each new title to hit game pass
2-3 months after release seems like it would make sense and sell subs after it's initial holiday run
i will say i would rather that too though i dont want a price hike on GP like the price for ultimate now is pretty good but if they add cod and make it like $25 idk about that
If cod gets added price is definitely going up. Microsoft kinda in a bad spot no matter what happens here
I woulda just made cod exclusive to drive hardware sales up

They gotta come with more heat if they're gonna raise it that much tbh
Don't feel like the current price point is really justified

I think that’s too soon tbh maybe a year after so when the new ones drop the old is available
Cod has legs

then u still dont understand
if they reach 50m subs
Microsoft GAME PASS is the future
I see that aspect but COD makes stupid money. $70 per copy or a price hiked GP ? Idk
I think having whatever new one comes out with a delayed drop on GP is the best way to squeeze out money on hardcore fans while keeping the entire franchise on GP a good incentive to get GP
it'll still sell millions on PC, PS5 and Switch 2
and the extra Game Pass subs arent people playing for free, that's moneyyyy bro

GP doesn’t move consoles. Exclusives (that we barely have) at this rate won’t move them either for Xbox especially if we now have in the back of our head the possibility of them coming to PlayStation

do u think Game Pass is free brother?
also CoD on Game Pass day one in 2024, 2025 and onward will most definitely move Series S consoles
impressive games like STALKER 2 and Indiana Jones will help too and u know what? they'll also sell physical and digital copies of these games

Optimism is nice but realistically things are looking grim for Xbox. You train your audience not to buy games and wait for them on gamepass that’s a bad thing. Also if cod goes to gamepass you can expect a fat price hike. & once more although Starfield isn’t cod it did pretty much nothing as far as moving numbers on GP
Even their biggest launch on GP increased the numbers by like less than a percentage
Yeah those games will sell some copies but not everyone is like me and is willing to vote with their wallet. You give your audience brand new $70 games day one for the less than half the price of those games - it doesn’t take a mathematician to understand the numbers don’t add up
Gamepass is great but it’s not profitable and we’re seeing the results of that

so u think Microsoft Gaming is losing money?
because they arent
they just arent showing as much growth

It’s fine if you believe otherwise but they are operating and releasing games on game pass at a loss that is a fact. Microsoft the corporation is fine. XBS is not.
Selling 800k consoles last quarter is abysmal. Gamepass numbers are stagnant. Starfield brought the highest number of subscribers in a day and that barely made a dent.
excited for stalker 2, avowed and shattered space. They finally have a good lineup, happy for y’all. Hope they keep up this pace.

If you take away the revenue from the ActiBlizz acquisition being added on top Xbox as a division was like -7% YoY after already having an absymal year. It's dire. 800k consoles moved is ridiculous.
Funny how hard so many championed the ActiBlizz acquisition when spending $70bil on them is probably going to be what kills Xbox as a hardware platform. Microsoft isn't spending that change to move 800k consoles or for Gamepass subs to be 20mil behind their own internal projections.

I was 100% apart of the group championing this bc I didn’t see this happening. I thought this would save the brand/ company and we would see the creatives in all studios flourish but like you said instead it’s seemingly the beginning of the end for Xbox hardware. The exclusives going multi plat was the first public death nail, the closure of 4 studios was further confirmation of where things are headed internally.
They brought the CEO’s eye to their division with that acquisition. It’s time for profit and we’re seeing the consequences. Satya doesn’t see the point of exclusivity and has said as much publicly. So why own an Xbox at all now outside of those us with brand loyalty?
