The Oblivion remaster is likely Skyblivion. Evidentially, the team thats remaking it and Microsoft is on good terms. Microsoft can't make money off Skyblivion directly but, you have to own Oblivion and Skyrim in order to play it.

again what some of you are missing is Target would be deincentivized and many stores would be to carry digital only consoles where they get so little of the pie

The fact that you can play those physical games on PS1, PS2, and PS3 today means they are preserved. SNES games aren't facing a preservation crisis yet aren't playable on any modern machine (outside of emulation, which is another factor to consider, of course). Is it better that they be playable everywhere? Sure, but that's not really the talking point.
