Phil gave a 95 / 5 split to activison pre buyout to ENSURE Activision games wouldn’t be bought by Sony to skip Xbox. They were losing money on every Activision game due to Sony’s aggressive third party timed contracts

On taking a loss from Activision to entice them to not skip Xbox, as Phil can't afford to pay off developers to skip Xbox. And touching on the fear that Xbox would be seen as a dying brand:

Sony already investing in the same type of architecture. This is where gaming is headed. Just look at whats possible with flight simulator. That whole game is augmented via cloud processing.

COD already streams you textures via cloud

Battlefied does balistics and AI via the cloud and stream it to you

advancements in cloud are moving FAST and by 2028, it is an actual reality most AAA games will be assisted by cloud.

This isnt just a microsoft thing. Sony will be utilizing this in thier next gen consoles as third parties will demand it.

Microsoft however going the full 9 yards and wants these games to run BEST on xbox by utilizing cloud and AI by developing their own internal DLSS, ai frame generation, their own ARM chip, and etc.

Nvidia already does this with DLSS 3.5 and it is f***ing amazing.
