Regardless of who you think has better music, X was clearly on his way to surpassing Drake in popularity and take his spot as the most famous rapper in the mainstream
Even now he has more YouTube subscribers on his music channel than Drake does (33M compared to 25M), and yes that’s important because a lot of people use YT to listen to music, not just YB fans
And you can’t use X’s posthumous albums flopping as an excuse because that was music we didn’t know if he would have released, and he would have probably had more Smash hits like Sad! or Moonlight
It’s a shame that we couldn’t see him grow because you know who did you know what
not bigger than Drake. But popularity wise if he got a light sentence, he could eat a year or 2 in prison on his charges (bc I love X but realistically he wasn't gonna walk) and come out and rebuild. so maybe top 10 streaming #s wise. he would've gone far as f*** man. X had a good life ahead of him
Yo why are you lying
How am Iying man
I legit haven’t heard of those songs before
17
A collection of nightmares, thoughts, and real life situations I've lived
17 is the number tattooed on the right side of my head
My own personal number
Soon to be explained in future interviews or instances
By listening to this album, you are literally
And I cannot stress this enough
Literally
Entering my mind
And if you are not willing to accept my emotion
And hear my words fully
Do not listen
I do not value your money
I value your acceptance and loyalty
Here is my pain and thoughts put into words
I put my all into this
In the hopes that it will help cure
Or at least numb your depression
I love you
Thank you for listening
Enjoy

That’s crazy cause one of them is diamond.
And Drake made out with a minor on stage
See how you had to lie to try to compare the two
I don’t think there’s much original value in this thread being made, even as an X stan, but it is a shame that he was killed before he had the opportunity to even put together a catalog that could survive on his own
It’s gonna be pretty hard to explain why this artist was a cult of personality with SoundCloud loosies, one mixtape and an album that might as well been a tape to his name (not to mention the posthumous nonsense)
How am Iying man

Bro Sad! Was huge bro do you only listen to Drake or sumn? I'm legitimately confused how someone who lives on a hip hop forum, missed a #1 record from one of the biggest rappers of the modern era. S*** cap like hat dog
That’s crazy cause one of them is diamond.
Good for them
My crowd doesn’t listen to xxx

If it was a casual I would understand. No way you haven't heard of some of the biggest hits from literally the biggest rapper of the new gen when you live on ktt.
Idk bout that but dude really had a lot crossover appeal
Crazy the new gen kinda lost their biggest rappers in Xxx, Pop and Juice
just realized this smh

Even though I've heard the song before, I've never heard it outside of KTT/Youtubers/streamers tbh. Not even on the radio.
It's not a stretch that some people who don't really listen to him know or remember those songs.
Also not ragging on him by saying he's bound to the internet.
Good for them

Mine doesn’t either. I still know of the song
Uzi is someone who I feel is a better projection of how X would’ve played out than Drake
Just bc I feel X would’ve had multiple lapses where his popularity would’ve been stymied. He was too “dirty” to have a trajectory that only went straight up, while Drake is this ever safe dude that only cares about popularity

You just said it yourself, outside of ktt. That's my point. That song was huge here and in general, how you miss both and nigga been on this site since I was in middle school
idk if he’d be bigger than Drake, but it’s undeniable that him & Juice would be absolutely massive had they still been alive. They likely did not actually hit their peaks in popularity yet and they for sure would have been some of the biggest generational artists. I’m not a massive stan of any of them by any means, but it’s just undeniable how big they were.
X would’ve also had to keep up his hype while in jail and post jail (assuming he went to prison)
That would’ve been a lot harder to judge two years out when you had Juice, Uzi, Baby etc to compete with

But he also said him and his crowd don't listen to that music, so it's still understandable. There's been "big" songs posted up here that I haven't heard because I don't listen to that type of music or artist. The song(s) were still big though regardless, but it's just not surprising that someone hasn't heard it.
Using your own subjective experiences to say if a song was real life big or not is always dumb but Sad! was objectively a big song lol
My walk of life doesn’t matter but it got burn on the radio in the heart of southern Alabama
But just to answer the Q, no.
He wouldn’t be as big of a star and certainly would sell as much.
But his core fan base is damn near cult like. He taps into that emo/goth/e-thot/my chemical romance listening ass fan base that niggas like Drake can’t. He’d probably remain relevant for the rest of his life. Would even go so far as saying no other artist has a stronger following than he does, except KanYe maybe
Where do they rank on the cult scale relative to Beyhive, Minaj fans, and Kpop twitter
