Tbh, I almost always skip these spin-off entries because they release games so quickly that I’m worried that I’ll already be burnt out by the time a full proper entry drops.

well the spin offs are action combat so its a change of pace unless you're still working through the older yakuza titles

Lost Judgment easily has the best combat amongst the Yakuza and Judgment games… but Pirate might top that

I hope so as I need to get a new Yakuza game and I want it to be like Yakuza 6 which this one seems like it'll be like with some new stuff and not have the RPG stuff the last 2 Yakuza games did (Well minus the "Gaiden" one)... But yeah I need more gameplay and some of reviews of it and then so will I decides if I want to get Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza In Hawaii or not.

Honestly, all of the Yakuza games are rpgs, but I get what you mean. I’m not a turn-based fan at all, but the Yakuza turn-based joints are great. Infinite Wealth is one of my fav games this year tbh. They make turn-based combat feel lively - especially infinite wealth. Still, I prefer the old combat so I’m happy the spin-off games are where we can get that.

I think this game is gonna be fire. It’s a day 1 cop for me lol

Exactly lol I'm not a fan of the whole turn-based kind of games... So I'm glad that this is like the old Yakuza games. But dunno if I'll get it day 1 so I guess I'll have to wait and see... But I hope that it's good so I can get it ASAP!

That's good to hear. Actually really enjoyed Gaiden, but wish it was just a bit longer.

finally finished yakuza 5 and man, this one just did not connect with me at all. it's not a bad game but i kinda come away from it feeling more negatively than i did with yakuza 3. on one hand i can appreciate the amount of content rgg put in and the attempt at 5 playable characters but it really just didn't come together to form a neat package. yakuza 4 did it much better imo.

kiryu and akiyama's sections were great as always so i don't have a ton to say about them other than i wish they were a bigger part of the game

saejima's section has got to be some of the worst pacing i've ever experienced in any game. the prison section of his story is literally 99% walking and talking and it's like 3 hours long. that really soured me on the game tbh and killed my motivation to play. it's the 6th game in the series i've played so obviously i'm used to a lot of talking but this was just too much. by the time it was over i pretty much just rushed through his part so i could get to the next character

i really enjoyed the story for haruka's part but i'm not that into rhythm games so the gameplay didn't hit for me. it was an interesting change and i did have some fun with the mini games but they got old pretty quickly. would've liked to see a bit more variety cause it felt like the same few games over and over and they were just lacking in depth

shinada's introduction was super strong and he was funny but his fighting style was awful. maybe i was missing something but it just felt super limited and not all that effective. his part of the story was decent though but it felt like it was getting dragged out towards the end

finally the way all their paths connected felt very rushed. we had hours and hours up build up and intrigue and then all these plot lines and threads are put together in a few very short chapters. again, i think yakuza 4 handled this better simply because there was just less going on in that game

i realize this post is overwhelming negative but i didn't hate it. i think it's just the first time for me that an entry in the series didn't really have me hooked on anything and so all that sticks out right now are the reasons why. admittedly i'm a little disappointed cause i had heard so much praise for this game before starting it. maybe i'll soften up to it over time though

5 is funny, I think it's one of the more well liked entries behind only 0. I'd have to try better to remember all the games, but I think it was middle of the pack for me. I liked 6 more at least story, villain, etc. Tho I really f*** with the Haruka DDR as a minigame that s*** is fun to me. Akiyama def has the best fighting style along with Majima of the side characters.

I don't remember the plot too well, but I can see why you feel that way. 5 is basically a burnout game cuz it's long as s*** and Saejima's parts are the worst everything besides side activities
