Surf gang got way more than sample drill. I think snow strippers are the hardest on the label.

and yeah i love snow strippers too AM3 my favorite project of the year
he literally did it in the op

MIKE influence is crazy
MIKE influence is crazy
it does kind seem like biting him down to the performance mannerism in the arms and stuff
these niggas are just eaters man
ill never forget that little 6ix9ine era on ktt1 theres always a circle of stans around whatever is trending, and then once it’s no longer hot niggas act like it never even happened
Bro 6ix9ine was hard idk why yall can’t admit that lol
Bro listen to what you like listening to idk
we’re cooked just because it’s boiled down to “real hip hop” alchemist ish or neo soul vs carti keef thugger future core and not something totally new
This is where I’m at, atp I’m tired of them both lmao
Only rap projects I really loved this year were Scaring The Hoes, Quaranta, The Great Escape, Utopia, and the Tobi Lou projects. I’m liking Carti’s new sound a lot, and I respect what Noname is doing even if it’s not my cup of tea, and beyond that I found myself barely ever checking for rap releases.
I’d be lying if I said I wasn't particularly frustrated by the Kanye-sized hole in the scene. Closest people dropping that level of full-length project that feels like an event and maintain the quality are Kendrick, Travis, Drake I guess… Nicki I guess…
I’m definitely out of touch as well, don’t get me wrong. I’m turning 30 in March and nowadays my taste is much more in instrumental music (I f***ing loved the 3 stacks album idc) but it’s not like I’d not like to be tapped in. Utopia was a particularly exciting moment because it felt like the only banner release for rap this year that brought everyone together for the love of the medium, but even that wasn’t the same as what once was.
Tl;dr: I miss when the rap conversation covered more than just the extremes.
Also it’s ironic as f*** that this conversation is happening on an objectively outdated forum medium tbh. I still love it but let’s not act like the youth are on here like they were when we were the youth.

It really does man, I’m just grateful we had the time we did
These newer and newer artists are just awful.
I’m realizing that a lot of the previous wave that I had all throughout my playlists just get phased out and removed within months.
It really does man, I’m just grateful we had the time we did
They really were some epic times
It'd be different if hip hop wasnt declining, but everyone's numbers are going down so its more likely stuff just legitimately sucks rn
Exactly.
Drake, Cole, and Kendrick are getting up there in age and still have a major hand in the culture.
Even Travis and Tyler are over 30 and blew up in the 2010's and have a major hand in the culture.
Kanye and Eminem are still breaking streaming records too despite the former being a nutcase and the latter being 51 and shatted on by many modern rap fans.
And Nikki Minaj who's over 40 is outselling every female rapper rn.
And Billboard is even touting Killer Mike's album as AOTY and he's almost 50.
But nah.....we all just dusty and stuck in the past. Clearly, the rest of the world recognizes that mainstream rap is in a new Golden Age that's resonating with the masses and it's us "dustheads" who are out of touch lmao.
im ngl some that s*** was going the other day…
