i haven’t seen a single person who identifies with the LGBTQ+ community supporting Kendrick’s use of the slur

however, it should be noted that the community is not a monolith, and there are still plenty of people within the community who don’t care about the slur being used, just like there are black people who give their white friends “the pass”

I've seen a lot of lgbtq people support it. It's a 50/50 split with how it's an actual supportive and creative song

this s*** too. I be finding myself saying this around the crib doing dishes n s***.

  • WESLEY PRESELY

It’s an 18 track album, the setlist will probably be an hour and a half, and he’s gotta find a way to squeeze in songs from GKMC/TPAB/DAMN into the show. He will probably perform

    N95
    Die Hard
    Father Time
    Rich Spirit
    Count Me Out
    Silent Hill
    Savior
    Mr. Morale
    Mirror

And the rest will be songs from other albums

United in Grief will surely be the opener too

It’s a catchy ass song fr but the subject matter makes it less replayable. Still a good song though

  • Not gonna lie, I'm a look at Kendrick different if he was too shook to not diss police at the Superbowl, but has no qualms with throwing the F-Slur around in front of a stage of thousands.

He should let NF open then get a racist queer white girl and a transphobic black guy do that part on stage

Then let Joyner Lucas and Tom Macdonald perform an I'm Not Racist/WHITEBOYZ medley

  • Smuchador

“we can say it together, but only if you let a white girl say…” points mic at crowd

This shouldn’t be more repulsive than music where dudes brag about murdering each other… but everyone instinctively knows that it is

it's less the lgbt community isn't a monolith, than it is specifically the trans community is not one. lgbt are nearly 10% of the u.s, so naturally there's going to be varying opinions

and not everyone will feel like they can even speak on it. because im bi doesn't mean i have as valuable of an opinion on this song as a transgender person

well there’s multiple issues concerning the LGBTQ+ community in the song

you’re referring to misgendering throughout the song & deadnaming, but Kendrick’s use of the f slur has also been controversial

It's not really a song for that community to identify with nor is it catering to them. The song is pulling from his own experience and directed at bigots to change them, at people who may have also had similar growing experiences, and most importantly just a tribute to his specific family members.

    This isn't Same Love

i think op is less about "should kendrick play the song" and more "if he did, would he be uncensored" and the answer is clearly yes he would be no venue is risking that

im not even very sure why some itt are being hostile towards the song, it's a pro-trans song despite the loadedness of using the f-slur

I hear you but I feel like the most offensive part of the song to people hasn’t been the misgendering or deadnaming bc ppl seem to get why he did that artistically.

it’s been just the repeated use of ‘fgt,’ which isn’t a trans-specific issue.

even as someone who defended the song early on, as time has passed, I get the criticism bc the ‘fgt’ part is just THERE every time you try to listen to the song
