Seems like the turnaround between the public loving you and the public hating you is getting shorter and shorter lately
People love you until too many people love you. Then they hate you.
why has music blurred into one genre to where this is postured as an “answer” to the rap has no new superstars discussion
I’m sure she’ll be successful but this aint really rap music lol
Jimmy had Asake on too. he tapped in
if theres one good thing about Fallon its his music taste. he always inviting quality up and coming artists to perform

Op isn't talking bout a rap superstar. She's not rap at all lol
This song has been playing every 15 or so minutes the past 2 weeks on the radio here in NY. The machine is really trying to make her a thing here in the US audience.
I can see it, with the Rihanna-esque vibes, light skin, decent singing, and dancing ability she's definitely the next international artist to watch for. I thought Tems by now would blow on this level but its looking Tyla is on diffrent level of buzz right now.

I wonder if Questlove is responsible for that or if it’s really Jimmy being tuned in
Great to see South African artists get international recognition over the last few years I never would've expected it as a kid or even 10 years ago

They deserve it. I've been on a Amapiano addiction the past 2 years. Although i can't understand anything they say in their songs.

Yeah it seems to happening a lot recently. It's what makes me think maybe the Drake, Kendrick, J Cole Style Superstar isn't possible in the streaming/social media era, at least not to the extent it was for them. People flipped on Chance, Lil Baby and more. To be fair they are understandable but artists seem more expendable these days.
plant
Nah she's legit she's been on the scene for a while just growing. Ice Spice, now that's an industry plant.

Tems totally deserves it she's so talented

It's this lady apparently
i have a theory that having a hit single, very early, then blowing up is a curse in disguise
Most of the rappers/singers on top had to wait yearsss before having top 10 hit
But now cause of TikTok, these new artists 2nd or 4th song ever becomes a hit and then the pressure to find the next one comes
And you fast forward 3yrs down, they slowly r becoming irrelevant and more of a celebrity/influencer on social media
Silento lost his damn mind after his hit lol
