I knew u were gonna post this.

What's funny about this. Is that he literally starts the song off making fun of people who are doing what ur doing rn lol

    Lil' white b**** gon' say
"You need to say something about that"
"You need to say somethin' 'bout black—"
    B****, suck my—

And then bringing back your point about how drake only brings up race issue to deflect from criticism is exactly what Tyler did in that song

I'm probably a coon to your standard's based on this evidence
Am I doin' enough or not doin' enough?

And this song is not typical from Tyler at all, he doesn't mention race like this usually

I mean bro that’s cool but that’s still talking about race even in an inverted way. I posted it more for the religion bars also lmao at asking and already having a song in mind where you knew he does that

    Y’all are hilarious

Girls that becoming ladies, and my friends are having babies
And babies are dropping dead in my city, this s*** is crazy
And I don't know if speaking on it helps
This is s*** that's on my mind I just keep it to myself
    You know

    Drake only raps about women

why is this thread still going on sir

    honest question

covering songs of an artist and then tryna s*** on it saying it’s some shopping mall surface level music is hypocritical and disingenuous

Michael was great because he didn’t do just one thing remember that

No it’s not man I Shazam little white girl songs or classic rock songs I hear in CVS or restaurants all the time like no funny s*** songs like hold on we’re going home are great for what they are

Lmao Drake fans just want it both ways

Drake just did that too tho

No bro I asked u to post more than one song, because I said drake has referenced it more than Tyler

I heard quite a few on his last album alone

Tyler highkey pandering when he does it too, he don’t get credit for that

I open the discussion that Tyler creator isn’t hip hop

A concept folk need to understand is this artist are versatile so one song could be a pop rap record then the next song is just straight bars

So it’s not reducing artist to labels, there’s just multiple sub genres and artist this days take part in a lot of them. They on a trap song and then they in the some radio friendly s***

I agree with your last point. Multiple sub-genres but it's all hip-hop at the end of the day.

But I do think reducing artists to labels is still a problem. I've seen a lot of it on social media and even from Mos. He could've easily just said "Yes, Drake is hip-hop but represents a more pop side." Instead he just says "Drake is pop."

If it truly was we wouldn’t be in a 100 page thread arguing about this and he’d be acclaimed as a social commentator like Pac or Ye once upon a time

The walls are closing in and after 15 years of bragging about pop chart dominance niggas wanna worry about legacy lol nah homie chose the plaques. Why try to act like he was A Tribe Called Quest lmfao

What’s the point of making real music when people gonna say you irrelevant/a nobody and then still attempt to give the same flowers to the nigga who phoned it in for 15 years with radio bait lol

We have the rap industry we collectively deserve

What does this have to do with what we we're talking about.

I only responded to ur post because you said Tyler does "more to include themes beyond consumerism in their music" than drake, which is an absurd statement when a majority of his catalog is Edgy s*** lol

Like @2words said. If drake ain't hip hop neither is tyler or modern day ye and Pharell

Tyler is highkey less hip hop when you get into his content and his audience

I love tyler and he’s building a great catalog, I was a true stan at one point but I can’t see ever including him on a “top mcs list” it feels so wrong

You said he mentions being mixed so he touches on race like the other guys I’m mentioning and I said if that were true this thread nor debate wouldn’t exist and he’d be lauded like Pac and Ye were for touching on social issues. You just know that isn’t true lmao. You’re pretending to not understand “what does this have to do with what we’re talking about” which says enough lol

I wouldn’t disagree with your last sentence if that was supposed to be bait lol but they also clearly have more intentions that making bait for the radio / consumerism / how rich they are in their music

I don't think ur following. You said Tyler on manifesto still counts as him mentioning race and I said well if that counts then drake mentioning he mixed ALSO counts.

I'm not pretending to not understand. I just don't see the relevance to what we we're originally discussing

No it wasn't bait, you literally defend them when fivepresto said they weren't Hip-Hop either lol

Tyler, Pharell and especially Ye are all huge offenders of the things you listed along with drake

  • Jan 15, 2024

This s*** ain’t that deep, cool he thinks that good for him.

People be looking to put artists to meet certain criteria but then “insert artist” goes and says they don’t wanna be put into one category.

For him to say that is kinda odd considering of all the rap records Drake has. I can see why considering other kinds of songs Drake also has.
