Fr Yeezus was the point of division between his OG core fans and the newer fans he had for most of the 10s. Unless you lived that era it’s easy to forget how polarizing that album was when it dropped.

Agreed, I'm an OG fan, and it took me a while to appreciate this album. For 808s, it was different, Love Lockdown (and the performance at the VMAs) had prepared us for it, and it was a time when the barriers between styles of music were breaking down (electro and rap with Dj Medhi, Ed Banger, Pharrell, etc), it was in the era of the times.
For Yeezus, it was completely against the grain and nobody understood at the time.
